Barton is facing the threat of legal action from team-mate Ousmane Dabo following a training-ground bust-up and has been suspended by the club for the remainder of the season.
It is the latest episode in a catalogue of controversy for the 24-year-old and agent Willie McKay insists the midfielder is now ready to move on, provided any interested clubs can offer £5.5million.
McKay told talkSPORT: "I've been contacted by two clubs abroad who are very interested.
"Joey is definitely going to move on. Joey is in quite big demand. I've had a lot of phone calls from people saying 'what's the situation?' Well the situation is he has a clause in his contract for £5.5million and now Manchester City are quite happy to take the £5.5million.
"At the end of the day someone has to come up with the £5.5million. Whoever comes up with the £5.5million gets to speak to Joey."
Asked by whether there was any truth in the rumour of a possible move to Everton, McKay said: "I've spoken to six or seven clubs over here. Joey is an Evertonian. He has supported them all his days and all his family support Everton.
