Roberto Mancini believes Inter can overturn their 6-2 Coppa Italia Final deficit against Roma tomorrow evening.
“We believe we can do it,” said the Coach in his Press Conference. “There is a match to be played and, therefore, there is a chance. It’s not an easy task, but we will try.”
The Nerazzurri have beaten Roma in the last two consecutive Finals, but are the underdogs after losing the first leg 6-2 at the Olimpico last week.
“My team has shown it has character all the way through this season. It is possible to get one game wrong, as we did in Rome.
“The lads don’t need to prove anything to me, they just have to put in a good performance without obsessively focusing on overturning the result at all costs, as that would be the wrong approach. We have to try to score as many goals as possible and then at the final whistle look at the scoreboard.”
These two clubs have been challenging for the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup this term, often resulting in goal-packed encounters.
“This year we have faced Roma four times and won twice each,” continued Mancini. “These are two strong teams who both play good football, albeit in a different way. When sides like this meet, anything can happen. They are certainly the opponents who have given us the most trouble this year.”
The Giallorossi’s last visit to San Siro was a 3-2 Serie A victory in April, so they will be confident of protecting their four-goal advantage.
“After the first leg result, I would say Roma have a 70 per cent chance of taking the trophy. Clearly we will try to do the utmost to turn it around, but nobody can tell what will happen.
“The important thing is to give it a go and play a good game. We will be happy if we manage it and content enough if we don’t.”

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti claims his side only have a 51 per cent chance of winning the Coppa Italia – despite their 6-2 first leg advantage over Inter!
The two teams meet at the San Siro on Thursday in the second leg of the Final and the Giallorossi are close to winning the competition for the eighth time, but the tactician is warning against complacency.
“Before last week’s match I said that our chances of winning were 50 per cent. Now I believe we are up to 51 per cent,” noted the former Udinese tactician on Wednesday.
“I am optimistic, but this doesn’t mean that we don’t have to be careful, especially in the first part of the match which can be decisive for the final outcome.
“Inter have nothing to lose, therefore they will be favoured from a psychological point of view,” he continued.
“This is our most important match of the last two years. We need to show personality and can’t go to the San Siro with the aim of just letting the 90 minutes run out.”
Today’s pre-match Press conference also turned to transfer matters as rumours claim that the capital club want Udinese striker and former Spalletti pupil Vincenzo Iaquinta.
“I have been asked questions on Iaquinta for the past two years and my answer has never changed,” he responded.
“I like Mirko Vucinic and that is why we bought him instead of Iaquinta last summer. We are happy with the players we have already.”

The Giallorossi thumped the reigning two-time Serie A champions 6-2 in the first leg at the Olympic Stadium last Wednesday, a result that leaves Inter's hopes of bagging a league and cup double in tatters.
And Moratti, who turned 62 on Wednesday, believes it will take a monumental effort from Roberto Mancini's men to turn the tie around.
He told www.inter.it: ``A feat is needed. Lots of concentration and effort is necessary. I think the team wants to do well. We will see.
``We have to believe. We have seen everything in football.
``Our players have to face this match with concentration that won't be easy to find, particularly after a championship like this, but it is necessary.''
Luciano Spalletti's Roma took the first leg by the scruff of the neck last week, and went ahead within a minute when captain Francesco Totti fired home.
Goals by Daniele De Rossi, Alessandro Mancini, Simone Perrotta and Christian Panucci (two) completed the rout, while a Hernan Crespo double handed Inter a faint glimmer of hope heading into the return leg.
And as long as hope remains for the Nerazzurri, Spalletti is calling for his side to do all they can to maintain their focus.
``The beginning of the match is always fundamental as it can dictate the direction of the game,'' he admitted on www.asromacalcio.it.
``Therefore, we must pay attention to how the match is developing.
``They have nothing to lose and this will give them a psychological advantage.''
Although their grip on second place in the Serie A standings is secure, Roma will be eager to bounce back from a surprise 1-0 league defeat at home to Torino at the weekend.
But Spalletti is sweating on the availability of injured duo Marco Cassetti and Gilberto Martinez, while David Pizarro faces a late fitness test.
Inter trio Walter Samuel, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Julio Cruz missed last weekend's thrilling 4-3 league win against Lazio through injury, and all remain fitness doubts ahead of Thursday's return leg.
