The beginners guide to transfer speculation
The beginners guide to transfer speculationThere seems to be a lot of confusion on how to do this properly, so let's layout some guidelines;
1. First off forget anything you've ever learnt about making logical arguments. The following points are almost irrelevant when discussing potential signings;
* Language/culture barrier
* Family
* Wage demands
* The players style of play and how it fits with ours
2. Football Manager (formally Championship Manager) is a reliable source. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.
3. Unless the player has been branded a 'wonderkid' by a reliable source (see point 2), never pick out British players as potential signings. You will most likely be laughed off the forum.
4. Add weight to your argument by posting a formation including your potential signing, add further weight still by including some other big-names you'd like to see in there - A good Transfer Speculation purist will do this automatically.
5. Ignore anybody who requests 'links', 'quotes' or a 'source'; these folks are just trying to put you down by being difficult.
6. Always remember that 'foreign sounding' names are likely to attract more forum traffic. A scietific experiment conducted in the summer of 2005 proved that names ending in 'inho', 'ini', 'ov', 'a' and 'orres' we're the most sucessful.
7. Always claim to have seen this player in action. In this day and age, everybody knows scouts don't actually visit players anymore - they use Youtube.
8. Sometimes a little embelishment can go a long way; add phrases such as 'spotted in Manchester', 'looking at property in Chester', 'saw Martin Ferguson outside his house' to add more weight to your argument.
9, If it's just forum attention you're after, include words ending in 'rres'.
10. Finally, if it seems all is lost with your argument use the disclaimer; "who cares, Chelsea will probably sign him".
