Gavin McCann was facing an uncertain future at Aston Villa
Aston Villa midfielder Gavin McCann will complete a £1m move to Bolton if he passes a medical.
The 29-year-old will become the second Villa player to sign for new Bolton boss Sammy Lee after Jloyd Samuel moved on a free transfer.
He had one year left on his current deal at Villa, and it had been expected he would sign a new contract.
McCann, who joined Villa from Sunderland in the summer of 2003, has agreed a three-year deal.
The former Everton and England star's opportunities at Villa may have become more limited with the expected arrival of West Ham United's Nigel Reo-Coker.
McCann has also indicated he is keen to make a return to the north west, and he still has a house in that area.
