Julio Baptista could be Milan’s new target after Vice-President Adriano Galliani revealed that the Rossoneri will soon sign a non-EU player.
The San Siro outfit have yet to finalise an important capture during this summer’s transfer market and have been paired with several strikers, including Andriy Shevchenko, Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho.
“Those players are no longer on our list. We are planning a new signing, he is neither Italian nor an EU member, but could soon become one,” said Galliani this morning, fuelling the speculation over Baptista.
The attacking midfielder, who scored a sensational goal in Brazil’s 3-0 Copa America Final victory over Argentina, spent last season on loan in the Premiership with Arsenal.
However, the versatile forward is still owned by Real Madrid, who are keen to offload him after the appointment of new Coach Bernd Schuster, but would welcome a switch to the San Siro.
The Brazilian, who is close to gaining EU citizenship, is highly rated by Rossoneri Coach Carlo Ancelotti and is currently valued at £14m
