·遥控開關機——這點玩家們已經可以在之前的PSP固件更新中得到了暗示。遥控游戲功能將會加入全新的功能。利用遥控開機功能你可以從任何Wi-Fi熱點連入你的PS3。比如，當你空閑時可能你會發現PS網絡商店有新的更新，你可以開機之後放心的讓PS3自己下載游戲。在離開時，你可以隨時通過自己的PSP接入熱點查看下載進度，當下載完畢你可以遥控關機。
·信息板——在系統畫面的（交叉媒體條）右上角將會看到滚動的信息欄。索尼將會挑選一些重要的信息在此發布。目前信息主要是和游戲以及PS3有關的内容。如果PS3用户對于某條信息感興趣還可以進入信息板查看更詳細的内容。將來你還可以將自己喜歡站點的RSS置入PS3直接瀏覧。而且這一功能也很體貼是可以在設定中關閉的。
·用户個性主題——PS3用户終于可以告彆系統預設主題了，你可以像設置PSP一様自己設定喜愛的主題。玩家不僅可以自定義背景圖案還可以改變系統圖標和字體。届時索尼還將提供PC用官方的主題制作工具，你可以自己制作并且和朋友們分享你的創作。同時官方網站也會不斷提供全新的主題供用户下載。
·XMB彩色選擇——系統畫面的原有的背景色也不再是不能自己調整的了。你將可以在設定中做出調節。
·音樂相片播放列表——你可以在菜單中創建自己的播放列表。比如你可以將PS3中你所有最喜歡的音樂放在一張列表中，隨時都可以點播。2.0版本中的播放列表還不支持從記憶棒中導入，目前音樂和相片也不能組合在同一張播放列表中。相信索尼會在未來的固件中進一步改進
·新增的自動分類選項——目前PS3的音樂只能按照歌手和專輯來分類，新固件中用户還可以按照年份進行分類。
·DualShock 3振動手柄支持——你可以在系統菜單中的設定選項裏選擇開啓和關閉對手柄的振動支持。
·PLAYSTATION 網絡系統菜單——在2.0固件中PS網絡將會擁有獨立的菜單圖標。你可以在PS網絡的菜單中進入網絡商店和賬户管理，未來還會增加其他的功能，比如PS Home。
·佳能打印機支持——正式支持外接打印機。
以上就是目前得知的有關PS32.0版固件的全新功能。PS3升級之後在進入部分菜單時會有一些比較長時間的拖慢現象，另外新增的信息板功能目前僅支持日語信息，相信索尼之後會做出改進。另外，索尼美國分部的發言人表示在游戲中進入系統菜單的功能還在改進中。而PS3對于更多視頻格式的支持也“幾乎是確定無疑的”。更多的相關功能信息請關注本站的更新報道。

Sony announced plans Tuesday to start selling a new, lighter version of its PlayStation 2 video game console just in time for the crucial end-of-year shopping season.
The newly designed PlayStation 2 will hit stores in Japan on November 22 with a recommended price tag of 16,000 yen (140 dollars), Sony Computer Entertainment Japan said in a statement.
"While inheriting the functions of the current PlayStation 2, the internal design architecture of the new system has been completely overhauled, resulting (in a console that is) lighter in weight," it said.
The launch comes as the PlayStation 3, the successor to the PS2, battles fierce competition from Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360.
