Nike Sphere Vs Nike Fit
Hi guys,I saw this from US forum and think that some of you may also be interested in this information. So I share this here and also thanks to the original poster for these great information, hope you guys enjoy the joy of discussing jersey again...
PS: all the info below here is copy from the original poster. Since the info is from US, maybe some of them does not apply in Asia.
First of all let me explain what is NikeFIT.
NikeFIT stands for Nike Functional Innovative Technology. Was launched on early 2007 (around January and February) and is used for all kinds of sports, not only for football. Even Nike Golf or Nike Tennis also uses this technology.
NikeFIT apparels can be categorized into three main categories:
1. NikeFIT Dry – features technology designed to keep the athlete dry and comfortable
2. NikeFIT Therma – features technology designed to keep the athlete warm without the bulk of the weight
3. NikeFIT Storm – features technology designed to keep the athlete protected from wind and rain
1. NikeFIT Dry
NikeFIT Dry fabrics help wick perspiration, providing rapid evaporation of sweat for a more comfortable wear during sports. The technologies used for NikeFIT Dry are:
a. Dri-Fit and Dri-Fit UV – move or “wick” excess moisture from the surface of the skin, transporting it to the surface of the fabric, where it can then evaporate quickly. The Dri-Fit UV has the same properties of Dri-Fit with the addition of a minimum UV protection of UPF 30.
b. Dri-Fit Body Mapping – uses strategically placed ventilation zones in DriFIT fabrics to increase breathability and improve airflow across the body.
c. Nike Sphere Dry – wick moisture from the skin to the garment’s surface for quick evaporation. The fabric’s three-dimensional construction raises the fabric off the skin, creating air space for better airflow and reducing cling.
d. Nike Pro – provides a close fit to the skin while keeping you dry and comfortable during your round. Good layering pieces under all Nike apparel. (I think this is the red tight long sleeve body hugging under shirt that is seen worn by Rooney, Evra and even Tevez recently inside their United jerseys while playing for Man United.. all of them Nike sponsored not surprisingly!)
e. Nike Sphere Cool - Better cooling than wearing nothing at all. The material's three-dimensional, open mesh structure holds the product off the body to maximize cooling. The structure creates more space for air to circulate over sweat on the skin, and the open mesh allows more airflow into that space to maximize evaporative cooling. (A lot of tennis gears uses this technology as far as I know)
2. NikeFIT Therma
NikeFIT Therma features fabrics to keep the athlete warm without bulk and weight:
a. Therma Fit - is a microfibre fleece that is wind resistant, light weight and breathable. It is brushed on one side to provide insulation against the cold and trap the warm air in.
b. Nike Sphere Thermal – provides the same lightweight warmth and has the Nike Sphere 3D structure on the inside, creating pockets of air that are warmed by the body, for a little extra protection from the cold.
3. NikeFIT Storm
NikeFIT Storm is designed to keep the athlete protected from the wind and rain. There are three fabric technologies highlighted in NikeFIT Storm:
a. Storm Fit – is waterproof, windproof and breathable. Nike uses a 3-layer laminate to reduce the need for bulky liners. The fully seam-sealed, breathable garments completely block the wind and rain and are guaranteed for life.
b. Clima Fit – blocks wind and resists rain. The fabric has spaces too small for water droplets to get in, yet it is extremely breathable, allowing perspiration and body heat to escape. Clima Fit is ample protection in light wind and rain.
c. Nike Sphere Pro – combines lightweight thermal regulation with light wind and water protection. The Nike Sphere 3D structure on the inside of the fabric creates pockets of air that are warmed by the body. The breathable outer layer repels wind and rain.
So if you look at the categories above, NikeFIT Dry and Nike Sphere Dry fall under the same category. Heck, I don't think there should be such football replica jersey made using NikeFIT Thermal unless it is for keeping players warm during winter training or some sort of.. Haha.. Anyway.. Lets see some interesting pictures of some of my jersey's tags that shows some info on NikeFIT and Nike Sphere dry:
NikeFIT Dry:
*Aye.. you can see there are DRI-FIT, THERMA-FIT, CLIMA-FIT, STORM-FIT listed on the tag..
I got this tag from my latest man united away black jersey.
Nike Sphere Dry:
*There's Sphere Cool, Sphere Dry, Sphere Thermal and Sphere Pro.
*This is a Nike Sphere Dry tag on last season's Man United's 2007 2nd batch home jersey:
Even though printed NikeFIT on the back of the jersey, the price tag comes along with Nike Sphere Dry:
On the price tag itself, states information about Nike Sphere Dry but below it... it states 'NikeFit Dry'
So what I can conclude here is that both NikeFit Dry and Nike Sphere Dry are actually the same thing..
they are both engineered to "wick” excess moisture from the surface of the skin, which is one of the most important characteristics to have since football players sweat damn lot. NikeFIT was a new renaming of the same technology that is used by Nike Sphere Dry and I guess both doesn't have any difference very much (or at all)... 多謝你ge資料ar~~
不過有時個NikeFIT係繡上去,
有時就膠咁ge? (我件Boca就係咁)
唔知有無分別ga呢? 原帖由 Delete4Ever 於 2008-1-1603:14 PM 發表 http://www.hkcmforum.com/images/common/back.gif

haha i am not sure, my personal take is that as what some member here say, shirts for south america seems like lower quality, so maybe the plastic one for boca is to cut cost, not sure about that. hehe 原帖由 ichirou 於 2008-1-1604:28 PM 發表 http://www.hkcmforum.com/images/common/back.gif
