Italy: Semioli pulls out Sunday 3 February, 2008

Franco Semioli has pulled out of Italy’s friendly match with Portugal due to an injury.
The Fiorentina winger had been included in the 20-man list released by Coach Roberto Donadoni earlier this evening.
However, he has sustained a sprain to his foot that kept him out of tonight’s 1-0 defeat to Milan and the same injury won’t allow him to recover for international duty.
It was Semioli’s seventh call-up for the Azzurri, though to date he has only earned three caps.
The Azzurri take on Portugal next Wednesday and Donadoni must decide whether to call in another name or stick with the 19 remaining players.
The only brand new face in Donadoni’s side is Genoa striker Marco Borriello, who receives his debut senior call.
Borriello has a great deal of experience at Under-21 level, scoring six goals in 12 games for the Azzurrini.
However, the 25-year-old hadn’t worn the Italy jersey since October 10, 2003, when he netted in the 6-0 drubbing of Azerbaijan.
