第二屆阿仙奴四角賽
European giants lined up for Emirates CupFollowing the success of the inaugural Emirates Cup in July 2007, Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Emirates Stadium will once again host a two-day pre-season tournament featuring four of Europe’s leading clubs.
The second Emirates Cup will take place over the weekend of Saturday 2nd August and Sunday 3rd August 2008, and joining the Gunners in this exciting summer tournament will be Spanish giants Real Madrid C.F, Serie A heavyweights Juventus FC and Bundesliga side HSV Hamburg.
Similar to last year, two matches will be played on each day, with the kick-off times being at 2pm and 4.15pm, with one ticket giving fans access to both matches on that particular day. The Club is also pleased to announce that Arsenal members will receive exclusive first rights on purchasing tickets for this high profile tournament.
The four participating teams boast many high profile international players who will feature over the weekend, which will also offer many Gunners supporters the first opportunity to see the Arsenal first team squad play ahead of the 2008/09 season.
The tournament kicks-off at 2pm on Saturday 2nd August, with current La Liga leaders Real Madrid C.F taking on Bundesliga side HSV Hamburg, followed at 4.15pm with hosts and Emirates Cup holders Arsenal playing Turin giants Juventus FC.
Sunday’s fixtures start at 2pm, with HSV Hamburg playing Juventus FC, with Arsenal and Real Madrid C.F bringing the competition to an exciting climax, kicking-off their match at 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon.
Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and will also earn 1 point for each goal they score in the competition. The winners will be presented with the Emirates Cup trophy after the second match on Sunday 3rd August.
Arsenal Managing Director Keith Edelman said: “After the huge success of last year’s tournament, we are very proud to be hosting the Emirates Cup again in August.
“We are also delighted at the calibre of the three visiting teams to this year’s Emirates Cup. The combination of Arsenal, Real Madrid, Juventus and Hamburg will offer an extremely entertaining weekend of football for the supporters at very good prices, and will also provide the teams with a very competitive level of pre-season preparation.”
Day admission tickets for the Emirates Cup, which give access to both matches in a day are available for as little as £25 for adults and £15 for OAPs and under 16s.
