there were that many fast England Center Defenders like Rio Ferdinand back in the days of the 90's.
Wenger kept using Martin Keown 'coz all the four-big-men (Winterburn, Adams, Keown and Dixon) have been playing together for a long time and actually he couldn't find any replacement for anyone of them (e.g. Grimandi, Upson, Luzhny, Cegan, Vivas, Silvanho... all no match with the way Arsenal played.) although all 4 big men were old and slow in the mid-90's until Sol Campbell got FREE transferred from Tottenham. (Everyone wanted him)
Compared to Steve Bould, Keown had more fire and strength. Also he was quite entertaining with his RED boots and his famous matches were kicking Van der Gau in his face and fighting Di Canio. haha
