By Richard Clarke
Eduardo will be back playing competitive football in three weeks.
The Arsenal striker suffered horrific leg and ankle injuries at Birmingham back on February 23 and, in the immediate aftermath, it was feared his career could be in doubt.
However the Croatian was operated on that evening in the Midlands and has been working hard on his rehabilitation ever since.
Speaking at Arsenal’s AGM on Thursday morning, Arsène Wenger confirmed that the long wait is nearly over.
“Eduardo is three weeks away from playing competitive football,” he said.
However, it appears Tomas Rosicky’s return will take a little longer.
“He should be back after Christmas,” said Wenger.
The Czech midfielder has been out since January 29 with a hamstring problem.

Gallas and Toure available for West Ham trip
By Richard Clarke
William Gallas and Kolo Toure are back for the trip to West Ham on Sunday.
The Ivorian injured his shoulder against Everton last Saturday and missed the game at Fenerbahce in midweek while the Frenchman was absent for both because of a hamstring problem. However the pair are set to return for the game at Upton Park.
In addition, Bacary Sagna (knee) is in line to make his comeback against Tottenham next week.
“It looks like Kolo Toure and William Gallas will be available while Sagna could be available for Wednesday,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online.
The Arsenal manager also clarified his comments over the return of Eduardo. At the AGM on Thursday, Wenger said the Croatian striker is "three weeks away from playing competitive football".
Speaking to the Club’s official website later on, he said: “What I mean by competitive football is joining in completely with a normal training session. After that he has to come back to match-fitness. But he is ahead of where we expected him to be and that is fantastic news.”

Dutch Legends Open Cruyff Court in Islington
Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp accompanied by Dutch master, Johan Cruyff officially opened a Cruyff Court in Elthorne Park, Islington on Thursday 23rd October.A Cruyff Court is a public playground which provides a safe area to play for local children and other members of the community.
The facilities, named ‘Cruyff Court Dennis Bergkamp’ are a legacy left by Dennis Bergkamp whose 11-year glittering Arsenal career culminated in a testimonial with the Club which was the first ever game at Emirates Stadium in July 2006. Arsenal’s Dutch striker, Robin van Persie will also be in attendance to complete the line up.
Dennis Bergkamp, through his testimonial game donated £75,000 through the Cruyff Foundation, as a thank you to the local community for supporting his career at Arsenal. The remainder of the cost was funded by Islington Council.Special contributions were made by TenCate Grass Group who donated the artificial turf, backing and infill as well as the Dutch Embassy who covered travel expenses for the ‘Cruyff Court All Star’ team who are participating in the official opening.
Speaking ahead of the event, Dennis Bergkamp said: “It’s with real pleasure that I return to north London to see the completed pitch and officially unveil a lasting legacy of my time with Arsenal Football Club.I have countless happy memories of my time with the Gunners and much of that is down to the fans and the local community of Arsenal, so it’s my way of honouring them and thanking them for their support. I hope this Cruyff court bearing my name can bring as much joy to the youngsters playing football as I had when I played.”
Johan Cruyff, Founder of the Johan Cruyff Foundation added: “This is the first Cruyff Court to be opened in the UK, so this is a special day for us.We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Arsenal in the Community to ensure as many young people in the locality can access the court and play football led by experienced coaches. I’m also delighted that talented youngsters from Holland, our Cruyff Court All Stars, have the opportunity to play in the tournament and are playing the official opening match against a team of Arsenal in the Community u12s. It is extremely important that youngsters keep active, and through sport we can teach them values and respect as well as contributing to keeping them fit and healthy.”
Councillor Ruth Polling, Islington Council's Executive Member for Leisure, said: "This sports pitch is as good as it gets and uses the latest materials. Children in our borough deserve the best start in life, which is why projects like this are so important.
“We're investing millions in leisure facilities across Islington and we want to use the forthcoming 2012 Olympic Games to inspire everyone in the borough to become more active. This is a really exciting time for sport in Islington and I hope the new pitch will be really well used by the local community."
Alan Sefton, Head of Arsenal in the Community added: “It’s wonderful to welcome Dennis back to north London accompanied by such a legendary figure in football, Johan Cruyff. These players are an inspiration to our coaches and to the youngsters who use the facilities here.
“We’re delighted that Arsenal in the Community’s work with youngsters in the Borough of Islington has been the inspiration and catalyst for this wonderful piece of regeneration through the generosity of Dennis Bergkamp and Islington Council. It is a befitting legacy of such a great Arsenal figure and he will be remembered by the local community for many years to come - not just for his wonderful football - but for contributing towards such a fantastic facility.”
Thanks to the Arsenal Kickz project, a programme that brings together the football industry with police and other partners to help young people realise their potential, the pitch is available for structured use and is free for young people of the local area. Arsenal in the Community runs its regular Kickz sessions four times a week at Elthorne Park which was originally the catalyst for the facility's regeneration.
The scheme also goes beyond football activities. The Kickz project is proud of its achievements in supporting local young people through volunteer opportunities, accredited qualifications and in notable cases employment on the programme, making ideal role models for younger members of the community. The Kickz project fits perfectly with the philosophy of the Cruyff Foundation and the idea of the Cruyff Courts. All partners in this project are proud of the result and will be working closely in the near future.

EDITED:icon111: Ljungberg makes switch to Seattle
Freddie Ljungberg has become the latest big-name player to move to Major League Soccer after signing to play for the Seattle Sounders.
The 31-year-old former Arsenal and Sweden star has made a two-year commitment to the MLS newcomers in a deal reported to be worth $5m a year.
He had been without a club since leaving West Ham by mutual consent over the summer.
"I'm really happy to be here, I feel so welcomed by everybody," he said.
Ljungberg made the decision to join the MLS despite friends telling him to stay in Europe.
"I'm coming here because I want to play football and I see this as a great experience and I want to make it a better league and develop it," he added.
"I felt if I was going to do this as a sincere thing, I should go now. I shouldn't go in three years when I'm past my peak.
"I wanted a new experience and I think it will be good for me."
Sounders co-owner and Hollywood director Joe Roth compared the signing of Ljungberg to the deal that took David Beckham to the LA Galaxy in the summer of 2007.
"I would say in terms of significance to the league, he is certainly one of the two significant European players to come so far," Roth said.
The Sounders are backed by Roth and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, as well as a number of minority owners including comedian Drew Carey.
Seattle will join MLS next season as the league's 15th team and they have already sold more than 17,000 season tickets.
Ljungberg joins former Tottenham and Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Kasey Keller - a Seattle native - as well as midfielder Sanna Nyassi and striker Sebastien Le Toux as the only players on the club's roster at present.
They will acquire more players when an expansion draft is held on 26 November.
