John Terry has written off Liveprool's ability to challenge for honours when key men Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are unavailable, claiming the Reds' depth doesn't match that in the Chelsea squad.
The Blues captain has been delighted with the way his team have coped in Europe without suspended striker Didier Drogba. His replacements, Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou, have responded with crucial goals as Chelsea have soared to the top of Champions League Group D.
Anelka scored winning goals in their opening two games against Porto and Apoel Nicosia while Kalou struck twice in the 4-0 demolition of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
Terry reckons Chelsea's strength in reserve contrasts markedly with a Liverpool team which struggles when they are without Gerrard and Torres. Liverpool have lost their last four games and could face Manchester United on Sunday without both key players, while Chelsea take on Blackburn at home on Saturday.
Asked if Benitez's men will be out of the title race if they lose to United, Terry replied: "I'm not sure, but when Stevie and Torres get injured they seem to be very short in the squad they've got.
"We're very fortunate at Chelsea. Since Roman Abramovich came we have had a lot of strength in depth in the squad, like with Salomon Kalou scoring twice against Atletico with Didier Drogba being out. People said we would struggle without Didier, but we didn't. If you take Torres out of their team, who do they bring in? It's difficult.
"We have players that are not here only to make up the numbers, but players that are fighting and working hard every day in training to come in and really prove themselves. Salomon seems to always come in and do well. Didier knows that the players behind him are working hard and wanting his place, the same goes for Nico. When Salomon comes in and does well, it gives the manager a real problem.'' Eduardo expected to return for West Ham clash

Eduardo is expected to return for Arsenal’s trip to West Ham on Sunday while Tomas Rosicky and Nicklas Bendtner are rated as 50:50.
All three were part of a quartet of short-term absentees for the Champions League tie at AZ Alkmaar on Tuesday. However it seems only Theo Walcott (knee) is certain to continue his spell on the sidelines for the Upton Park clash.
“Rosicky (knee) and Bendtner (groin) are 50:50 but Eduardo (thigh) should be back,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online. “I would say only Walcott is definitely out.”
Lukasz Fabianski (knee) and Samir Nasri (broken leg) both made comebacks in the Reserves on Tuesday night however the manager hinted he would be cautious about throwing them in against Gianfranco Zola’s side.
“It is possible ,” said Wenger. “But it depends on our needs. Ideally Nasri will need the game against Liverpool to be completely part of the squad again. So it depends on the urgency.”
Meanwhile the Frenchman gave an update on two players who have been missing for sometime.
“Denilson (back) should be available in four weeks and Johan Djourou (knee) will be March,” he added. 射手榜:icon101:

Arsène Wenger will wait until after Saturday’s training session before deciding whether Nicklas Bendtner is fit enough to return for Arsenal’s game at West Ham on Sunday.
The Dane missed the draw at Alkmaar in midweek because of a groin injury and, on Thursday, his manager rated both him and Tomas Rosicky (knee) as 50:50 for the Upton Park clash.
At his press conference a day later, Wenger revealed the Czech midfielder is out but Bendtner’s involvement is still in the balance.
“Before training we thought Rosicky would be 50:50,” said the Frenchman. “But he will not be available for Sunday now. Bendtner was OK today and will have another session tomorrow.
“Eduardo will definitely be back. From Tuesday night, we did not lose anybody and we could have Senderos available again.”
With Vito Mannone, Lukasz Fabianski and Manuel Almunia all fit, the manager has to make a tough decision over his keeper. When he spoke to the media, Wenger was giving no clues.
“I do not know,” he replied when questioned. “Come to the game on Sunday, and you will see.”
