" As far as the "bromance" thing is concerned - again, more nonsense. In the original stories Holmes and Watson live in the same building until Watson marries his wife and moves out. At no point is there the slightest hint at anything else. Sadly in our sexually corrupt society two men of their age living together must equal "something funny". Therefore, grovelling to the sexualisation of our society Ritchie is compelled to explain their relationship, and even more than this he must give Holmes a love interest. See - nothing "funny" going on after all! Of course, the Hollywood template means that Watson cannot have a love interest even though in the books it is he and not Holmes that gets married.
To paraphrase: all in all this is a disgraceful sell-out to templated Hollywood action tropes. As for Holmes fans, if your liking of Holmes comes from a lifelong appreciation of the original texts and the previous two most famous portrayals by Rathbone and Brett, you would be advised instead to jump out of a DeHavilland Twin Otter at 14,000 feet without a parachute, singing "There's an old mill by the stream, Nellie Dean" all the way down.":icon101:
