EXCLUSIVE: Eidur Gudjohnsen agrees to join West Ham
West Ham United expect to complete the signing of Eidur Gudjohnsen within the next 24 hours.
The Hammers have agreed terms with the 31-year-old Iceland striker after Monaco cleared him to join Gianfranco Zola's side on a free transfer.
He will arrive along with Benni McCarthy, who is on the verge of finalising a £2.25million move from Blackburn Rovers.
Gudjohnsen was approached by a number of English clubs last summer when Barcelona decided to cash in on the versatile player, but he eventually decided to join Monaco.
However, after starting just six games in the French League - and without scoring in 11 appearances in all competitions - he is leaving Monaco for a return to London.
The one-time PSV Eindhoven striker first joined the Premier League with Bolton, in 1999, before before being snapped up by Chelsea for £4million after two years in the north-west.
He played his first three years at Stamford Bridge alongside Zola, and the pair now hope to revive a successful partnership on different terms.
West Ham, recently bought by David Gold and David Sullivan, sit perilously close to the bottom three in the Premier League.
杜 斯 山 度 士 轉 戰 土 超 2010年 1月 27日 11:02

Blackburn confirm loan signing of Turkey's Basturk
Blackburn have confirmed the signing of Yildiray Basturk on loan from Stuttgart for the rest of the season.
Basturk, a Turkish international with 49 caps for his national team, has joined Rovers initially until the end of the 2009-10 campaign and will add a wealth of experience to the ranks having played at the highest level in Europe.
The midfielder revealed that former Ewood favourite Tugay helped convince him to make the move, telling the club website: "I had contact with Blackburn for three months and I spoke to Tugay and he said it is a very good club and to come here and try the last few years.
"I played about fifty games for the national team with Tugay and he always told me how good a club Blackburn is and for the last three or four weeks he has often told me I should take this chance."
Basturk previously played for the likes of Bayer Leverkusen - with whom he reached the 2002 Champions League final, where they lost to Real Madrid - and Hertha Berlin before moving to Stuttgart in 2007. He was also part of the Turkish side that reached third place at the 2002 World Cup.

Arsenal fear defender Thomas Vermaelen has broken leg
Vermaelen leaves the field in some discomfort after injuring his right leg
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger fears defender Thomas Vermaelen may have suffered a broken leg during Wednesday's 0-0 draw at Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old Belgium international limped off after 35 minutes at Villa Park and was replaced by Sol Campbell.
"The news is not good," Gunners boss Arsene Wenger told BBC Sport. "He will have an X-ray on Thursday morning.
"He is on crutches. It could be a fracture to the top of the fibula. We'll have to wait and see."
Wenger added: "Whether it is just a nerve problem or the bone is broken is what we have to check on."
Vermaelen joined Arsenal from Ajax last summer and has started all 23 of their Premier League games this season.
He has scored six goals in all competitions and formed an impressive centre-half partnership alongside William Gallas.
606: DEBATE
It looks like he will be out for the next two months at the least. At least we have Campbell
HMNIV
Any potential lay-off could offer Campbell an extended run in the team, while Wenger could also turn to Mikael Silvestre or Alex Song.
Campbell, 35, signed for Arsenal as a free agent on 15 January but has played only 145 minutes of football since leaving League Two side Notts County in September 2009.
Former Manchester United defender Silvestre, 32, has made only four league appearances this season and Song, usually a midfielder, has been away at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon.
Wenger also confirmed that striker Eduardo will miss Sunday's visit of Manchester United with a hamstring strain that forced him off in the 65th minute against Villa.
"Eduardo has a hamstring strain, a small one," said Wenger, who replaced the Croatian with fit-again Nicklas Bendtner. "But, for Sunday, he will be out."
