Kevin-Prince Boateng has apologised three times to Michael Ballack for the tackle that forced him out of the World Cup, but Ballack's agent has not ruled out taking legal action against the Ghana midfielder.
Ballack will miss this summer's tournament after a late challenge from Boateng in the FA Cup final forced him off the pitch with what was later diagnosed as ankle ligamanet damage.
Boateng told Sport Bild that he has apologised profusely to the Germany captain and denied that the tackle was planned as part of a long-standing grudge with Ballack.
"All I can do is apologise," Boateng said. "I was just too late and I hit him straight on. It looked stupid. I apologised to him twice on the field and now for a third time. I am sorry. It was not intentional."
But saying sorry is not enough for Ballack's agent Michael Becker, who revealed that he is considering taking legal action against Boateng for what he describes as a "pre-meditated" attack on his client.
"Every spectator could see what Boateng has done and that was clearly a premeditated foul," Becker said. "It is not possible that somebody breaks the rules with the intent to cause injury. The football field is not outside the law, even if Boateng believes that."

Italy boss Marcello Lippi says he decided to cut Fabio Grosso from his World Cup squad because you can't build a team on what happened in the past.
Grosso scored the winning penalty in the World Cup Final four years ago, but his form has dipped since then, leading many to question his role in the squad.
Nevertheless it was a surprise when this morning's papers claimed he would be among those axed when Lippi cut his 30-man squad down to 28 players.
“I am not making an Italy side based on debts of gratitude,” he said.
When asked why he named 28 players instead of 27 as expected, Lippi replied: “I have taken another 10 days to reflect.”
He concluded by firing a parting shot at the Italian Press who have been critical of the Azzurri over the last year.
“Have faith in this team. You are an important component in the world of football and it's important that you transmit a little confidence to the people independently of the fact that there is or there isn't a fantasy player. Because when there was one Italy returned home soon after the group stages while on other occasions when there wasn't one we went to the end. It's right to remember that.”
