A midfielder, Kaita caught the eye of Sparta when playing all 7 matches for Nigeria U-20 at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup in the Netherlands. He is also a member of the senior Nigeria national football team making his debut in a 2-0 friendly in over Sudan in January 2008.
He was sent off against Greece on June 17th 2010 in their second World Cup game for kicking Vasilis Torosidis over a disagreement about a throw-in.
