Gokhan Inler has underlined his faith in Napoli teammate Paolo Cannavaro. “He remains our captain.”
The centre-back has endured a problematic start to the season after losing his first team shirt at the Stadio San Paolo.
Although an untouchable in the plans of previous boss Walter Mazzarri, new Coach Rafael Benitez has used him in just four Serie A games this term.
“We are a great squad,” the Swiss international told Radio Kiss Kiss on Thursday. “And Paolo will always remain as our captain.”
Cannavaro was used as a substitute at Roma on Friday, but he gave away a penalty and was sent-off in the 2-0 loss.
“Benitez has shown that anyone can play,” the former Udinese man continued. “The fact that all of us have a use is our strength.”
Napoli will entertain Torino on Sunday.
