Pollard joins list of injured Pacers
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Indiana center Scot Pollard missed the Pacers' home opener Saturday night against Chicago with a sore back.
Pollard, injured Friday in a win at Boston, had been filling in for starter Jeff Foster, who is on the injured list after having surgery on his right hip.
Rookie David Harrison got his first career start in place of Pollard.
Jonathan Bender also missed his second game in a row because of a swollen left knee. Bender sat out all of the preseason, but played in the regular season opener against Cleveland.
In addition to Foster, Reggie Miller (broken hand) and Anthony Johnson (broken hand) have started the season on the injured list.
All Star forward Jermaine O'Neal is being used in a reserve role as he works to get his strained left foot healthy.
Nene out indefinitely with strained hamstring
DENVER (AP) -- Nuggets forward Nene missed his second straight game because of a strained left hamstring Saturday night, and the team isn't sure when he will be back.
Nene was hurt early in training camp and was limited to 70 minutes in the preseason. He had two points and six rebounds in 18 minutes in Denver's season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, but aggravated the injury and didn't play Thursday against Minnesota.
``Nene's going to be out probably for a while,'' Denver coach Jeff Bzdelik said Saturday night before the Nuggets played Utah. ``It doesn't seem to be improving.'' 7/11/04
76ers: Dalembert sits with sore hammy
by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com
News
76ers center Samuel Dalembert strained his right hamstring late in Friday's loss to the Suns, and head coach Jim O'Brien decided to hold him out of Saturday's contest against the Pistons. "We want to make sure a little tweak doesn't turn into something more than just a one-game thing," O'Brien told the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The 76ers have a couple days off before playing on Tuesday night, and like O'Brien said, it's better to play it safe with Dalembert and let him rest. We expect Sammy to be back in the lineup next week 8/11/04
Sprained ankle delays Brown's return
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Kwame Brown now has a sprained left ankle to go along with his broken right foot, probably delaying his return to the Washington Wizards until December.
Brown sprained the ankle during practice last week. He has been recovering from surgery on a broken bone in his right foot, which he injured during a summer pickup game.
While there had been no firm timetable for Brown's return, he previously said he hoped to practice at full speed by the end of the month. He said Sunday the ankle injury most likely will sideline him until December.
``It's not like I'm going to be 100 percent when I come back,'' Brown said. ``I'll just come back and whatever I can give, give it as we go along.''
Brown, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, is in the final year of his contract, having failed to agree to an extension before the season.
Bobcats F Smith has knee surgery
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) - For the second straight year, Charlotte Bobcats forward Theron Smith will have his season shortened due to his right knee.
On Monday, Smith underwent successful surgery to repair damaged cartilage suffered in the preseason.
Smith, 24, missed 59 games in his rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies last year with tendinitis in the same knee.
Obtained by Charlotte in the expansion draft, Smith appeared in three preseason games, averaging 7.3 points and 5.0 rebounds in 15.0 minutes.
Placed on the injured list by the Bobcats before the start of the season, Smith has averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds in 20 career games.
Lenard out at least six months after left leg surgery
DENVER (AP) -- Nuggets shooting guard Voshon Lenard will be sidelined at least six months after surgery Monday on his torn left Achilles' tendon.
Lenard was injured Nov. 2, in Denver's season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
He averaged 14.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists last season, helping the Nuggets reach the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
Denver was 1-2 heading into Monday night's game at Utah.
Outlaw rejoins Suns; Tabuse on injured list
PHOENIX (AP) -- Bo Outlaw signed a one-year contract Monday to rejoin the Phoenix Suns, who missed his tough post play last season.
The Suns said the 6-foot-8 forward would join them for Tuesday night's game at the Chicago Bulls.
To make room, the Suns placed guard Yuta Tabuse, the first Japanese-born player to make an NBA roster, on the injured list with a right quadriceps strain.
Outlaw, 33, won fans for his defense and hard-nosed play during two seasons with Phoenix, when he averaged 4.7 points and 4.6 rebounds. He received the Dan Majerle Hustle Award for the 2002-03 season. But the Suns dealt Outlaw and center Jake Tsakalidis to Memphis for Brevin Knight, Robert Archibald and Cezary Trybanski on Sept. 30, 2003. 9/11/04

Nocioni has played well so far, averaging 13.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, and two steals a game. But, with the injury and the fact the Bulls only play twice, Andres doesn't make a good start this week
