NBA Live 2006 x Wade Crossover
The minute Shaq stepped foot in Miami, everything you knew about the NBA changed. The East had another superpower to deal with, the Lakers drowned in their own arrogance, and while everyone watched the Heat to see Superman, Flash stole the show. That's right, Dwyane Wade, nicknamed The Flash by Shaq because of his blinding speed on the court, took the role of sidekick to another level, legitimizing himself as a superstar in only his second year, setting single-season franchise records for points per game (24.1) and total points scored (1,854), while at the same time legitimizing the Heat as the biggest threat to the Pistons chances of a repeat.
And with the records and recognition comes the fame, as Dwyane Wade has now officially signed on to be the cover athlete and spokesman for EA Sports' upcoming game NBA Live 06.
"This is quite an honor to be named cover athlete of NBA Live in just my second year as a professional," Wade said. "When you look back at some of the great players who have had this opportunity, it's exciting to be a part of the EA Sports family and contribute to a game I've been playing for more than 10 years."
And while EA Sports has now revealed their cover athlete and the first screens to go along with it, the new features of the game are still being kept under wraps. The press release merely states: "NBA Live 06 builds upon the depth and authenticity that the NBA Live franchise has delivered for more than a decade and that made last year the best-selling version in the history of the series. With advancements in gameplay and enhanced player graphics, the sport of basketball is elevated to a whole new level in NBA Live 06 with the superstars of the game looking and playing more like their real-life counterparts than ever before. Players can feel the emotion and intensity of the complete basketball experience with an up-tempo, fast-break, and physical brand of basketball that yields improved play in the transition game and real-life collisions in the paint."
NBA Live 06 is once again being developed in Vancouver by EA Canada, and will be available for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, PC, and PSP this fall.
