Saturday, 23 July 2005 23:00:00BOLZANO - Inter beat Bordeaux 2-1 in Saturday's friendly match at the Stadio Druso in Bolzano. Julio Cruz opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a superb overhead kick, then Obafemi Martins doubled early in the second half with a brilliant individual effort before Smicer reduced the deficit. David Pizarro was voted man of the match.

BOLZANO - "I'm seeing some very good things in this phase of pre-season training, and we haven't been working for many days," said Roberto Mancini to RAI after Saturday's 2-1 victory over Bordeaux. "Today we played a real match against a team that starts their championship next week and who are therefore much further ahead than us in their preparations."
On man of the match David Pizarro's performance, Mancini said: "He's a player with extraordinary technical qualities and he showed this again today. This is one of the reasons why he has immediately gone down well with the fans."
And on the club's transfer market dealings, the Nerazzurri coach remarked: "It's not finished yet. The club is working very well. We will see what happens in the coming days. However, the important thing is that we can work hard and serenely up to the Champions League qualifier. For the moment we are doing well."
