The Lega Calcio President expressed his disappointment that both teams failed in their appeals to remain in Serie A, but he believes that rules should be respected by everyone.

"Normally the verdict on the pitch would count, but there are rules to respect."

Messina will now be relegated to Serie B, whereas Genoa will have to play in Serie C1 with a 3 point deduction.
