BENITEZ TARGETS TWO MORE SIGNINGS
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has revealed that he is looking to bring in two more new signings over the next seven days as he continues his preparations for the Barclays Premiership season.The Anfield manager - who has already made six signings so far this summer - is keen to bolster his squad with the addition of a centre-back and a right winger.
Benitez told official club website www.liverpoolfc.tv: "I am very happy with the squad, with the way they are working in training and in matches and I am happy with the new players.
"But I am still looking for a centre back and a right winger and we need to bring these players in during the next seven days."
Real Madrid and Portugal midfielder Luis Figo remains one possible target for the European champions, but Benitez refused to be drawn as to who was top of his wish-list.
He said: "I always say that a player is not yours until he has actually been signed. We have alternatives to these players and my idea is to always be looking at all your options."
With Liverpool kicking off their Barclays Premiership campaign against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on August 13, the Spaniard is confident they will be able to improve on last season's fifth-placed finish.
Benitez added: "We have a better squad than last season and we have a lot of hungry players who want to win.
"If the players continue working as hard in training as they have been doing then I can dream of the possibilities.
"I am realistic. I always think about winning the next game and nothing else. I know it will be difficult but it you start the season winning games then it helps your confidence and your performance.
"We have forwards who bring different qualities and different possibilities to the team and it is good when they score goals.
"But it is also important that we get goals from the midfield and even from the defenders, and this has been happening.
"We are scoring a lot of goals so I am not too worried about goals we have conceded.
"When you look at the goals we have conceded some have come at the start of games but most have come at the end of matches which we have been two or three goals ahead and our players have been looking for more goals.

The Reds boss has earmarked two potential new signings and he wants to have
them training with the rest of the squad as soon as possible.
The future of Luis Figo is shrouded in doubt, with the Reds still to
publicly rule themselves out of the race to sign the former World Footballer
of the Year, despite conflicting reports suggesting he will either stay at
Madrid or sign for Inter Milan.
Although reluctant to reveal the identities of the players he has in his
sights, Benitez did admit he is looking for a new right winger and a new
centre back.

Benitez is keeping his cards close to his chest over who his next targets
are but he has been linked heavily with Birmingham City's Matthew Upson and
Jorge Andrade of Deportivo La Coruna in recent weeks.
Another player who could feature on his hit list is Fulham's Steed
Malbranque, who was linked with a move to Anfield when Gerard Houllier was
