Wigan Did Not Deserve To Lose - Mourinho
8/14/2005 7:57:00 PMChelsea coach Jose Mourinho says his side were lucky to escape with a 1-0 win from newly-promoted Wigan.
The Blues triumphed thanks to a last-gasp wonder-strike from Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo.
"Wigan did not deserve to lose the game," said Mourinho.
"You could not tell who were the Premiership champions and who were the Championship winners last season.
"Crespo’s goal was unbelievable and it was important for him on his return to the club. He is a hero because we didn’t deserve three points."
"I feel sorry for Wigan because with their commitment, spirit and organisation, they didn’t deserve to lose.
"We didn’t play well. We defended very well. All our defenders were brilliant in difficult circumstances because we kept losing the ball in midfield and attack.
