Curbs in bid for duoCharlton Athletic have disclosed an interest in signing Marcus Bent and Lee Bowyer.
Addicks boss Alan Curbishley is still trying to add to his squad before the close of the transfer window and currently has two bids in for players.
It is believed Newcastle United midfielder Bowyer and Everton striker Bent are the players Curbishley is hoping to lure to The Valley.
Bowyer has been strongly linked with a return to Charlton throughout the summer, particularly following his troubled end to last season.
He has accepted a lifeline at St James' Park but Charlton are testing Newcastle's resolve to keep the combative midfielder.
Bent, meanwhile, is not guaranteed a regular starting role at Everton, although could feature in the first XI with James Beattie out for a fortnight.
Everton may currently be reluctant to offload Bent but Curbishley revealed both his bids are subject to the selling clubs bringing in new recruits of their own.
"We've got two bids in for players at the moment," Curbishley told the South London Press.
"We know the two players we want and the clubs - both in The Premiership - know we want them.
"It may depend on that club getting their player in. It's a bit like the housing market.
"We're waiting for something to happen and if it happens before August 31 then great.
"If not, we'll just have to get on with it."

DAVID MOYES has moved to reassure Marcus Bent that his future lies at Goodison Park after rubbishing reports today that Charlton have made a bid for his services.:icon8:
There have been suggestions that Charlton boss Alan Curbishley has offered £1.5m to take the Hammersmith-born striker back to London, while it is understood that Deportivo La Coruna have been contemplating taking Bent on a season-long loan.
Moyes, however, has made it quite clear that he will not be allowing Bent to move anywhere, especially now that James Beattie faces a spell on the sidelines with a foot injury.
The Everton boss - who also quashed speculation linking him with a £3.5m move for Mark Viduka - was thrilled with Bent's Man-of-the-Match performance against Manchester United and now wants the former Ipswich man to get among the goals.
"It was a big plus seeing Marcus play like that," said Moyes.
"He has missed quite a bit of training because of an Achilles problem and missed a few pre-season games, so that was a positive.
"Of course he could do with a few goals but couldn't we all. Hopefully it won't be too long before they come his way.
"But nobody has come in for Marcus and nor would we want them to. How could we possibly think of selling him or anyone at the minute?"
