Valencia CF have signed Newcastle United FC's Portuguese international Hugo Viana on loan for the forthcoming Primera División season.

Edu replacement
The 22-year-old has been recruited as cover for Brazil midfielder Edu, who could miss much of the campaign after suffering a serious knee injury at the weekend. Should Hugo Viana impress at the Mestalla, Valencia will have first option to buy the 22-year-old outright next summer.

Lisbon loan
The playmaker spent last term on loan at his first club, Sporting Clube de Portugal, playing 32 league games. He had left the Lisbon side for Newcastle in June 2002 but failed to win a regular place over the following two seasons. Twenty-three of his 39 English Premiership appearances have come from the substitutes' bench. Edu is due to undergo surgery on a torn knee ligament and faces at least six months on the sidelines.

係我既話就唔想再留係呢間唔重用自己既球會啦~:icon092:
我很喜歡維亞拿,覺得佢係紐卡素缺少既技術型中場,
我以前成日希望紐卡素可以重用佢,亦唔希望佢離隊...
見到佢係士砵亭有出色既表現仍取不到紐卡素正選一席,真係慘:icon074:
唉~而家希望佢可以去到讓佢表現自己既球會。
