LONDON, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Factbox on qualifying situation for the 2006 soccer World Cup in Germany ahead of this weekend's fixtures:
EUROPE
ADVERTISEMENT
Thirteen qualifying slots from eight qualifying groups (eight group winners, two best runners-up and three playoff winners).
Already qualified: Germany (automatically as hosts), none through qualifying.
Ukraine, leaders of Group Two, are the only team who can secure qualification on Saturday, which they can do by winning in Georgia.
Other teams looking well-placed to progress are Italy and Portugal, top in their groups, but many will not be settled until the last round qualifying in October.

SOUTH AMERICA
Four automatic slots plus one playoff place (against Oceania winner) from one 10-team qualifying group.
Qualified: Argentina.
World champions Brazil can qualify by beating Chile in Brasilia on Sunday.
Still in realistic contention: Ecuador, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay.

CONCACAF
Three slots plus playoff from one six-team final qualifying group
Already qualified: None
Mexico visit the United States on Saturday with both teams virtually assured of progress. Mexico need just a draw to qualify while the US will qualify with a win.
Guatemala, Costa Rica and Trinidad are the realistic contenders for the third automatic slot or fourth place, the playoff berth.

ASIA (Four slots plus playoff) from two groups
Already qualified:
Japan
Iran
South Korea
Saudi Arabia
Playoff Sept 3 and 7:
Bahrain v Uzbekistan - winners face fourth-placed side from CONCACAF for place in finals.

AFRICA
Five slots from five qualifying groups
Qualified: None.
Ivory Coast can qualify with victory over Cameroon on Sunday.
Angola, Ghana, Togo and Tunisia lead their groups with South Africa, Zambia, Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria and Morocco best-placed to overtake them in the remaining two rounds.

OCEANIA
One team into playoff against fifth-placed South American team.
