Solano has his ban cut by FA Sep 10 2005Nolberto Solano has been cleared to make his Premiership return for Newcastle at Blackburn next weekend following an FA ruling shaved six days off the Peruvian's suspension.
And that is a major boost to United boss Graeme Souness as he attempts to steer the Magpies up the top-flight table following a poor start to the season.
Solano (pictured) - who rejoined the club in a £1.5m move from Aston Villa - arrived back at St James's Park with two games still to serve of a three-match ban incurred for his uncharacteristic dismissal at Portsmouth on August 23.
It was assumed that the popular South American would sit out this afternoon's visit of Fulham and next weekend's trip to Ewood Park before making a second United debut against Manchester City on September 24.
But, following talks between Newcastle officials and the English game's governing body, Solano will be available for selection next weekend as the Magpies attempt to get the better Blackburn.
The FA have decided that, because Solano began his suspension as a Villa player, his ban is specific to matches played by David O'Leary's side.
That means the former Boca Junior is not eligible for selection until after Villa have played Tottenham a week today. And, because Newcastle do not face Rovers until next Sunday, Solano's comeback has effectively been fast-tracked. The talented winger would not have faced Fulham this afternoon regardless of his disciplinary situation as a result of a minor thigh problem.
