PERHAPS peeved at suggestions that Chelsea have made the Barclays Premiership boring, Jose Mourinho chose to provide some melodrama yesterday, withdrawing all co-operation with the media until further notice.

The Chelsea manager is angry at what he perceives to be the misrepresentation of his recent comments and has let it be known that he will not attend any press conferences for the foreseeable future. Having caused such a stir since sweeping into Stamford Bridge last summer, the Portuguese has resolved that silence is golden.
