1995年9月，一張由慈善團體War Child策動、為波斯尼亞戰火中兒童籌款的合輯Help面世，唱片的賣點不獨是結集了Noel Gallagher、The Stone Roses、The Boo Radleys、Radiohead、Orbital、Portishead、Massive Attack、Suede、The Charlatans/The Chemical Brothers、Manic Street Preachers、Terry Hall/Salad、Paul Weller等等當時得令音樂單位的作品(絕大部分皆為獨家之作) ，而唱片由錄音到發行更只在短短頭尾六天內發生，好比水深火熱而來。
十年後，War Child的Help合輯再作延續。一眾頂針兒的英國樂隊齊在9月8日分別進入錄音室為War Child的新一張籌款合輯Help: A Day In The Life進行錄音，作品並馬上在翌日(9月9日) 提供下載http://www.7digital.com/shops/productDetail.aspx?shop=15&product=17405&sid=187048 ，每曲99p。而CD則有待9月26日由Independiente廠牌發行──當年負責出版Help的Go! Discs正是Independiente之前身。
跟Help相似之處是Help: A Day In The Life內有不少改編曲目，如本屆Mercury Music Prize得主Antony & The Johnsoons聯同Boy George玩John Lennon的Happy X’mas(War Is Over) ，Kaiser Chiefs玩Marvin Gaye的I Heard It Through The Grapevine，Keane玩Elton John的Goodbye Yellow Brick Road等。
而Gorillaz的一曲Hong Kong更是在香港收錄，這正是他們早前訪港之行的一大重任。
除原定的陣容外，Babyshambes和Coldplay亦已在隨後加入，為合輯獻上新曲。
