Adidas offer Real Madrid's Robinho ?0M to leave Nike

Adidas has made a huge bid to sign Real Madrid winger Robinho - while he is still under contract at Nike.

Robinho's deal with Nike doesn't expire until December 2006 and the American sportswear giant were banking on him being their player for the World Cup finals in Germany.

But adidas have made contact with Robinho's representatives and are offering a six-year deal worth £20 million - plus compensation to buyout the remainder of the player's deal with Nike.

Nike's current deal with Robinho is for £700,000-a-year and they have offered to extend that through to 2010 - but without an increase financially.
