English club Newcastle United have taken a 17 year-old Egyptian striker into their youth academy for a year.

Mohammed Al Gabbas, born on new year's day of 1988 has been added to the Premier League club's youth outfit, and is set to train at the Magpies Academy for an entire year.
Al Gabbas was involved in a football competition, compared to the singing series Pop-Idol, in which Newcastle had agreed to take the top three young players into their care.
An 18 year-old Algerian won first place, followed by the Egyptian prospect, and then a 15 year-old Saudi Arabian. All are now making their way to Newcastle.
Newcastle's Youth Development Officer Peter Kirkley had a say, but the judge was the famous ex-England and Newcastle midfielder, Academy Coach Peter Beardsley.
"We are confident we made the right choice," he commented to the club's website.
"We'll look forward to seeing them when they get to Tyneside and we'll see how they get on in the Academy," continued Beardsley.
"We are impressed by the playing standards among the three contestants and we have no doubt that they will contribute immensely to Newcastle," he concluded.
Al Gabbas, who is 182 centimetres tall and weighs 74 kilogram's, has been described as a strong and physical player who can finish well. He has been compared to Mido; quite quick and good in the air.
Hopes however should not be put too high, as England's academies usually have just one or two promotions into the reserves at the end of each season, and the maximum age is usually 18. But this is still beyond doubt a fine step for Al Gabbas.
