Moratti: I want Ballack

Inter patron Massimo Moratti has named Michael Ballack as the ideal replacement for Juan Sebastian Veron.
The Argentine midfielder has already stated his desire to return to South America at the end of this season, leaving a gaping hole in the Nerazzurri squad.
“I hope that Veron will reconsider his decision and stay with us,” noted Moratti in the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“On a tactical level we have David Pizarro as his replacement, but we need a leader and I cannot help but point out Ballack in that category. He has temperament, charisma and class.”
The German international will be a free agent in the summer, as his contract with Bayern Munich is up, but Inter face competition from Juventus, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United.
“I don’t believe Ballack has agreed a deal with anyone yet,” added Moratti. “Many clubs are following him and we are among them. It would be an important investment worth £3m per season, but you pay for that kind of quality. As far as I know, Bayern aren’t eager to send him to Juve, so the decision is up to him.”
This is certainly not the first time that Inter have been linked with Ballack, but Veron’s departure could prompt Moratti to take that extra step.

這名年僅26歲的巴西球員司職左后衛，2000年夏天以1000萬歐元的價格從聖保羅轉會至瓦倫西亞，此后，他以出色的表現在西甲賽場上站穩了腳跟，並於去年夏天得到了國家隊的召喚。

With Ballack's contract expiring this summer, the battle to land him on a free transfer is heating up with Internazionale entering the race, while Juventus are also said to be interested.
Madrid are clear favourites to capture the former Bayer Leverkusen star though, according to Hoeness, Bayern's general manager.
"If Real Madrid come in for him, then Ballack will go there," he said.
The Bundesliga outfit withdrew their offer of a new deal at the Allianz Arena in November after seeing their previous move to tempt Ballack to stay rejected.
Hoeness believes that the only reason that Madrid have not concluded the signing already is because of the increased interest from Inter, who want the player to replace Juan Sebastian Veron.
With stories appearing almost daily in the German press regarding Ballack's future, not everyone at Bayern is finding the saga interesting.
"Everything has now reached the stage where it bores me," said club president, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
