Chelsea plot Espanyol's winger raid
Who is he:oChelsea are on the brink of signing Espanyol's Sergio Tejera, according to well-informed sources in Catalunya.
The Premiership champions are looking to follow the lead of Manchester United and Arsenal by raiding La Liga for some of its most promising players.
United snapped up Gerard Pique and Arsenal signed Cesc Fabregas, both from Barcelona, but Chelsea's sights have been trained across the city to Montjuic.
Jose Mourinho's side will need to pay a compensation fee to Espanyol and, despite reports in local newspaper Sport claiming that Chelsea are willing to pay a substantial amount to the Catalan club, the Primera Liga side do not want to do business.
Tejera is believed to be willing to pursue his career in London and the likeliest conclusion is that Chelsea will flex their financial muscles again and land a midfielder of some promise.
The Barcelona-born youngster is not 16 until May but his work down the left flank for Espanyol's youth teams have impressed scouts from a number of clubs, not just Chelsea.
Espanyol obviously want to hang onto their precocious teenager but will need to use all of their persuasive powers to convince him to shun the overtures from West London.
