Trinidad name provisional World Cup squad

LONDON, April 13 (Reuters) - Trinidad & Tobago coach Leo Beenhakker has named a provisional 24-man squad for the World Cup in Germany.

The team will be captained by former Manchester United and Aston Villa striker Dwight Yorke, the Soca Warriors said on their official Web site.

The players are to attend a training camp ahead of a May 10 friendly with Peru in Port of Spain. Dutchman Beenhakker will name his official 23-man World Cup squad after that game.

"It was the time to put our cards on the table for several reasons," said Beenhakker.

"Since qualifying we have done a lot of homework and in the end we had to make decisions. Besides that I think the players at this moment have to know what their situation is in relation to participation at the World Cup."

Trinidad kick off their campaign with a Group B tie against Sweden in Dortmund on June 10. They also meet England in Nuremberg on June 15 and Paraguay in Kaiserslautern five days later.
