Kilbane quits Blues for Wigan move

Republic of Ireland international Kevin Kilbane has completed his move to Wigan from Everton on a three-year deal.

Kilbane becomes the ninth new player to arrive at the JJB Stadium this summer.

Wigan boss Paul Jewell told the club's website: "I am delighted Kevin has agreed to come on board.

"He is another real quality acquisition for us, a highly-experienced player who has seen it all at Premiership level.

"I have been a long-time admirer because he is a Wigan type of player, committed, athletic, quick and talented.

"He brings something we just haven't got at the club, a naturally left-footed attacking player.

"I have always maintained that I want at least two players for every position and Kevin will now give us a terrific option on the left-hand side."

Rovers return for Henchoz

fr:soccernet.com--Swiss defender Stephane Henchoz has rejoined Blackburn on a free transfer.

The former Liverpool player, 32, left Wigan at the end of last season.

Henchoz arrived in England in 1997 when Roy Hodgson signed him for Rovers, spending two years at Ewood Park before joining Liverpool then Celtic.

Henchoz will not play against Sheffield United on Saturday due to a lack of match fitness.
