Shaun has no Blues regrets

Shaun Wright-Phillips says he has no regrets about joining Chelsea last summer.

The exciting winger failed to nail down a regular place with the champions and has paid a huge price with Sven-Goran Eriksson overlooking the former Manchester City man in favour of Aaron Lennon.

It was a devastating blow for Wright-Phillips, who burst onto the international scene with a goal on his debut against Ukraine, and one that triggered a volley of abuse towards Eriksson from his adopted father Ian Wright.

Yet, when asked if he had any regrets about switching to Stamford Bridge, the 24-year-old told Sky Sports News: "No, I don't.

"I've not got one regret in joining the club whatsoever.

"I came there with the intention to know it's going to be difficult. To me, it's a learning curve and I'll become a wiser and better player and it will show in time to come."

Wright-Phillips has hailed the arrival of Bayern Munich skipper Michael Ballack and praised Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

"In the Champions League, everything seems like a walk in the park for him," he said of Ballack. "No doubt he'll be able to bring that quality from there straight to the Premier League.

"It's what we need really. We just need the competition.

"He is a top man. It's hard to explain him.

"He's just dead simple, a nice guy who is always around and never misses anybody. He never walks past anybody without saying 'hello'."
