Former England skipper Tony Adams looks set to be appointed assistant manager and head coach at Portsmouth, joining boss Harry Redknapp's ￡25million Pompey revolution.

That is the figure Redknapp has been reportedly given to turn the perennial Premiership strugglers into UEFA Cup place candidates next season after avoiding relegation in their last campaign.
Adams, former Arsenal and England captain, is seen as the charismatic personality to help attract major stars to the south-coast club.
He is said to be `excited' by the offer, which looks likely to see him replace Newcastle's new assistant manager Kevin Bond, and has ``only one or two details to be sorted out''.
`I've spoken to Harry, he's a guy I greatly respect and someone I would love to work with. He's inspirational and it really does interest me to see how he works,' said Adams.
`He obviously thinks a lot of me to approach me and I've got a lot of admiration for him. The respect I've got for him is second to none, he's a great man.'
Redknapp now has the backing of 30-year-old billionaire Alexandre `Sasha' Gaydamak, who became Pompey's co-owner by buying half of chairman Milan Mandaric's stake in January, with the ￡15million investment bringing in seven new signings.
Now Gaydamak is ready to pour more of his wealth into the team that again narrowly avoided relegation last term with a late run of winning form following Redknapp's controversial return to Fratton Park from Southampton in December 2005.
But the veteran manager, who met with Gaydamak and Mandaric last week in Israel to lay plans for the future and returned strongly convinced of their ambition, made it clear when he signed a new three-year contract last month that he does not want to fight another survival battle at the club - and still needs to strengthen his squad.
He has already had a ￡10million bid reportedly turned down by by Tottenham for their England striker Jermain Defoe but looks certain to make further efforts to buy the former West Ham frontman who left Sven-Goran Eriksson's World Cup training camp in Germany last week to make way for Wayne Rooney.
Adams could be influential in an attempt to recruit Arsenal centre-back Sol Campbell if Redknapp decides to go for the England defender following indications that Gunners' boss Arsene Wenger would listen to offers.
Another Pompey target could be their former striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu, who was sold to Middlesbrough for ￡7million last summer but failed to meet with total approval at the Riverside despite 19 goals this season.
