老費: 希望首名出線

Sir Alex Fergusons says his side are on a mission to not only seal qualification for the Champions League knock-out stages, but to do so as winners of Group F.

A victory for United over Celtic at Parkhead on Tuesday night will ensure the Reds do just that, following the hiccup against FC Copenhagen earlier this month when they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat.

With Sunday's top-of-the-table clash with Chelsea in mind, Sir Alex says he will make some changes for the trip to Celtic Park, but insists they will not cause massive disruption to the team.

"I haven't made my mind up about who should be left out but they'll be no more than two changes," Sir Alex told reporters at his pre-match pressbriefing in Glasgow. "We're well aware of the dangers of taking too many chances.

"The name of the game is to win. There's a marvellous incentive for the players in that a win over Celtic means winning the group."

60,000 fans will be packed into Celtic Park for the first ever competitive meeting between the two sides to be played in Scotland. Sir Alex is expecting a great atmosphere to be generated by both sets of supporters and believes everyone involved will be in for a special night of football.

"You'll get everything on Tuesday night," he declared. "European games are always special but this is a different type of European game because it'll be played in the British spirit.

"It'll be a fantastic match and there will be a great atmosphere. I've experienced the atmosphere at Celtic Park in the past and it's one of the best around. Players can be inspired by that because it creates a great platform for footballers to perform.

"If Celtic were to get themselves in a good position the crowd could help them," warned the United boss. "But it's important that we work hard to stem the tide of emotion and enthusiasm that can be generated by that support.

"We know we're in for a tough game but we want to come away having won the group."

隊長可能要做手術

Sir Alex Ferguson says United are still concerned by the calf problem which has dogged Gary Neville this season and may consider surgery in a bid to cure it.

The Reds' skipper struggled with the injury during the World Cup and has since been hit by frequent reoccurences of the complaint.

Despite coming through Saturday's win at Sheffield United and being named fit to face Celtic on Tuesday night, Sir Alex says United's medical team are keeping a close eye on the situation.

"Gary came through Saturday's game okay and he trained on Monday morning but obviously the injury has been a concern," explained the Reds' boss.

"We are holding our breath hoping it doesn't happen again because if it does we will have to take a long term view and do something about it."

The United boss is worried that if the problem continues, the 31-year-old could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

"If it keeps going on and on and on, we might get to the new year having lost Gary for a long period," revealed Sir Alex.

"Had it just been one calf, we would be saying to ourselves 'give it time'. But because he is getting it in the left one as well, it suggests it is something different.

"Gary is out captain and has great experience," he added, "and we want him in our team all the time."

史特根: 有信心贏曼聯

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan believes the quality in United's squad far outweighs that of his own side, but he is confident of causing an upset when the Hoops entertain the Reds on Tuesday.

Ex-United man Strachan is the first to admit that the visitors will be odds-on favourites to leave Parkhead with three Champions League points and in turn ensure qualification to the knock-out stages as winners of Group F.

But the Celtic boss feels his side is more than capable of springing a surprise on Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

"I would think we will be underdogs against United," he acknowledged. "That's how it will be viewed in the footballing world and we would see ourselves as that, in terms of a genuine bet. But there is also a genuine feeling we can win the game.

"I feel three-quarters of our performances this season have been good. We are hoping we can continue the good performances. But even with good performances you can still be beaten by teams of Manchester United's calibre.

"You have to respect what they've got, but I think you just have to stand up against them and play your own game," continued Strachan. "I think we all accept they have better players as a whole than we've got. But what we won't accept is the idea that we can't beat them. We can."

United need only a draw to ensure qualification for the competition's knock-out stages, while a victory would see them top the group. Celtic, who are currently second behind the Reds on four points, know a victory would go a long way to helping them progress to the next round.

The Hoops go into the match in good form. Goals from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink (who scored against United at Old Trafford in September), former Chelsea midfielder Jiri Jarosik and a Darren Dods own goal helped them to a comfortable 3-0 win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle on Saturday and saw them stretch their lead at the top of the Scottish Premier League to a massive 18 points.

費sir可能想第二名出線多D, 首名出線可能要對皇馬巴塞, 次名出線又唔洗對以上兩隊之餘又唔洗對英超球隊, 易哽好多, 衰極最Kick手對里昂拜仁.....
