隊長可能要做手術
Sir Alex Ferguson says United are still concerned by the calf problem which has dogged Gary Neville this season and may consider surgery in a bid to cure it.
The Reds' skipper struggled with the injury during the World Cup and has since been hit by frequent reoccurences of the complaint.
Despite coming through Saturday's win at Sheffield United and being named fit to face Celtic on Tuesday night, Sir Alex says United's medical team are keeping a close eye on the situation.
"Gary came through Saturday's game okay and he trained on Monday morning but obviously the injury has been a concern," explained the Reds' boss.
"We are holding our breath hoping it doesn't happen again because if it does we will have to take a long term view and do something about it."
The United boss is worried that if the problem continues, the 31-year-old could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"If it keeps going on and on and on, we might get to the new year having lost Gary for a long period," revealed Sir Alex.
"Had it just been one calf, we would be saying to ourselves 'give it time'. But because he is getting it in the left one as well, it suggests it is something different.
"Gary is out captain and has great experience," he added, "and we want him in our team all the time."
