The one question a few of you have asked me is what jersey number will he were. He usually wears No. 4, but as most of you know, that number belonged to Joe D. and has since been retired. I've been told that he'll wear jersey No. 84. Why, you ask? ... I have no earthly idea, but you can bet it'll be asked this afternoon. That was the year the Tigers won the World Series, but somehow, I don't think that has anything to do with his choice.

The Golden State Warriors have agreed to trade Troy Murphy, Mike Dunleavy, Ike Diogu and Keith McLeod to the Indiana Pacers for Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, Sarunas Jasikevicius and Josh Powell, NBA front-office sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
The trade is scheduled to be announced later Wednesday.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indianapolis, Jan. 17, 2007 -- The Indiana Pacers announced Wednesday an eight-player deal with the Golden State Warriors. The Pacers received from the Warriors forwards Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and guard Keith McLeod in exchange for forwards Al Harrington and Josh Powell and guards Stephen Jackson and Sarunas Jasikevicius.
“We feel we made a pretty significant trade for the franchise that will be good for both teams,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Larry Bird. “Trades are always painful because you give up players you like, but in this case, we think it’s a good trade that works for both teams. We feel the players we got will make a significant difference in the franchise.”
The 6-9, 230-pound Dunleavy is in his fifth season out of Duke. In 39 games with the Warriors this season he averaged 11.4 points per game. Murphy, a 6-11 six-year veteran from Notre Dame, has played in 26 games, averaging 8.9 points per game. Diogu is in his second season out of Arizona State and is averaging 7.2 points per game in 17 games. McLeod, in his fourth season out of Bowling Green, has played in 26 games, averaging 5.3 points per game.
Jackson was in his third season with the Pacers and played 37 games, averaging 14.1 points. Harrington was in his second stretch with the Pacers after being acquired in a trade from Atlanta, Aug. 23, 2006. Harrington had played in 36 games and was second on the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game. Jasikevicius, in his second season with the Pacers, played in 37 games, averaging 7.4 points per game. Powell was acquired in a trade with Dallas, July 24, 2006 and played in just seven games, averaging 1.7 points per game.
The players acquired from Golden State will not be in uniform Thursday night when the Pacers play at Miami. They are expected to be in uniform when the Pacers host the New York Knicks Saturday night in Conseco Fieldhouse.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Golden State Warriors have acquired forward Al Harrington, guard/forward Stephen Jackson, guard Sarunas Jasikevicius and forward Josh Powell from the Indiana Pacers in exchange for forwards Mike Dunleavy, Troy Murphy, Ike Diogu and guard Keith McLeod, it was announced today by Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin.
"We are excited about this trade," said Mullin. "As I've said on several occasions, we are always looking to make our basketball team better and, with this move, I think we have accomplished that goal. We have acquired players who will fit in very well with our particular style of basketball. As with any trade, we also had to surrender players that we like both on and off the court. I think this transaction will be good for both teams and all of the players involved."
Harrington, 26, has appeared in 36 games this season with the Pacers, averaging 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 33.6 minutes. He has scored a season-high 32 points on two occasions (11/4 at New York and 11/10 vs. Orlando) and converted a career-high-tying six (6) three-pointers against the Warriors in Oakland on November 29. Additionally, he collected a career-high 18 rebounds vs. Milwaukee on November 21. Last season, the 6'9" forward averaged a career-high 18.6 points (30th in NBA) and 6.9 rebounds in 76 games with the Atlanta Hawks, registering in double figures in scoring in 70 of 76 appearances, including 20-plus points on 32 occasions. An eight-year NBA veteran (did not attend college), Harrington was originally selected by the Pacers in the first round of the 1998 NBA Draft (25th overall). He spent the first six years of his career with the Pacers before being traded prior to the 2004-05 season to the Atlanta Hawks (for Stephen Jackson), where he played for the previous two campaigns. Overall, he has averaged 12.9 points and 5.8 rebounds in 532 games during his NBA career.
Jackson, 27, has appeared in 37 games this season with the Pacers, averaging 14.1 points, 3.1 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 32.1 minutes. He has scored a season-high 27 points on two occasions (12/22 at Atlanta and 1/6 at New Orleans) and has scored 20-plus points seven times, including back-to-back outings 12/20 at Philadelphia (25) and 12/22 at Atlanta (27). Earlier this season, he converted a game-winning three-pointer with 1.0 seconds remaining to lead the Pacers past the Warriors, 108-106, in Oakland on November 29. Last season, the 6' 8'' guard/forward averaged 16.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 81 games with the Pacers. He scored 20 or more points on 31 occasions last season and led the Pacers in three-point field goals made (117). A six-year NBA veteran, Jackson was originally selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the 1997 NBA Draft (43rd overall). His NBA career has featured stops in New Jersey, San Antonio, Atlanta and Indiana, where he has spent the previous 2 1/2 seasons. A member of the Spurs' 2003 NBA Championship team, Jackson averaged a career-high 18.7 points with Indiana during the 2004-05 campaign and scored a career-high 42 points against Washington 3/12/04. Overall, he has averaged 13.8 points and 3.6 rebounds in 429 games during his NBA career.
Jasikevicius
Jasikevicius, 30, has appeared in 37 games this season with the Pacers, averaging 7.4 points and 3.0 assists in 17.9 minutes. He scored a season-high 20 points on opening night (November 1) at Charlotte and has handed out a season-best seven assists on two occasions, including his last appearance with the Pacers on Monday at New Jersey. During his rookie NBA campaign with the Pacers last season, the 6'4" guard averaged 7.3 points and 3.0 assists in 35 games. He established a Pacers' rookie record in three-point field goals made (86) last season and was a member of the rookie squad during the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge during All-Star Weekend in Houston. Additionally, his free throw percentage (.910, 121-of-133) would have ranked third overall in the NBA, but he fell four free throws made shy of qualifying for league leaders. Jasikevicius, who signed with the Pacers as a free agent prior to last season after spending the previous seven years playing professionally overseas, also appeared as a starter in 15 games with Indiana last season, averaging 8.7 points and 4.3 assists. A native of Lithuania, he was a member of the bronze medal winning Lithuanian team at the 2000 Olympics.
Powell
Powell, 23, has appeared in seven games this season with the Pacers, averaging 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.1 minutes. He scored a season-high four points and grabbed a season-best seven rebounds at Washington on 11/8. During his rookie campaign with the Dallas Mavericks last season, the 6'9" forward appeared in 37 games, averaging 3.0 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11.6 minutes per game. Powell, who was not drafted after finishing his collegiate career at North Carolina State in 2003, led the Las Vegas Summer League in rebounding this past July (9.8).
