Nantes in Portillo talks
Nantes are set to open talks with Real Madrid striker Javier Portillo over a possible move.
Les Canaris are keen to bring in a high-profile striker and have set their sights on Portillo.
Portillo's future at Real looks uncertain as he has been pushed further down the pecking order at El Santiago Bernabeu following the arrivals of Robinho and Julio Baptista.
Nantes chairman Rudi Roussillon has confirmed they are set to hold talks with Portillo, but that coach Serge Le Dizet will make the final decision on any transfer.
"It is a possible trail, among other ones," said Roussillon. "Anyway nothing will be settled without the agreement of the coach. He will make the final decision."
Nantes are also reported to be lining up a move for Haitian defender Jean-Jacques Pierre.
The French side have watched the Penarol ace on several occasions and they are believed to be close to agreeing a deal for the 24-year-old.
Nantes have offered Pierre a three-year deal and he is set to arrive in France for talks soon.
