:eek2::eek2::eek2: AZ Alkmaar have ended their search for a replacement for Jan Kromkamp by swooping to sign Icelandic defender Gretar Steinsson.
Kromkamp's departure to Villarreal this summer left a huge vacuum in Louis van Gaal's team and the Dutch tactician was left scouring the market for a replacement.
A host of names came under the microscope and he finally settled on Steinsson on deadline day.
The 23-year-old has been lured to Alkmaar from Swiss side Young Boys, having been handed a three-year deal with an option for a further two seasons.
Steinsson is relishing the prospect of aiding AZ both domestically and in Europe.
"It has been a hectic week," he told the club's website. "I am happy everything has worked out now.
"After I heard AZ was interested, I just wanted one thing and that was sealing a move to Alkmaar.
"AZ has amazed everyone with their offensive play, in the Netherlands as well in Europe. It makes me proud they wanted to sign me. And the last weeks they had some fine results in the league also.
"Also it's special for me to train under Louis van Gaal. He's well known all over the world, it looks fantastic to work with him.
"Furthermore there will soon be a fantastic new stadium. So there were enough reasons to choose AZ." NEC Nijmegen have swooped to sign Jasar Takak from PSV Eindhoven.
The midfielder has failed to make an impact at PSV, having been farmed out on loan to Zwolle and RKC Waalwijk in the last couple of seasons.
With little prospect of securing regular playing time at PSV this season, Takak has accepted a loan proposal from NEC.
He scored 12 goals in the last two seasons and NEC will hope he can show his true form during the course of the new campaign.

Gers chief Alex McLeish freshened up his squad on deadline day with the signings of Francis Jeffers and Filippo Maniero and is confident Bernard will join the duo at Ibrox in the near future.
There is no undue rush to push through a deal for the left back as he is available on a free transfer, but McLeish will look to bed the former Newcastle man in following the departure of Michael Ball to PSV Eindhoven.
The 26-year-old spent the end of last term at Southampton, but failed to find a new club during the summer and is now looking to kick-start his career in Scotland.
McLeish expects to hold talks with Bernard on Thursday and will hope for a swift conclusion. Rangers have made another late foray into the transfer market by signing Italian striker Filippo Maniero.
Following the loan signing of Francis Jeffers from Charlton Athletic earlier on Wednesday, the Scottish champions have added another forward option to their ranks in Maniero.
The 32-year-old joins The Gers having spent last season with Torino, who were denied a place in Serie A for this campaign.
Maniero makes Rangers his fourth club in as many seasons, after spells with Palermo and Brescia prior to signing for Torino.
The Gers have confirmed they secured the signature of Maniero just before the transfer window closed.
Details of Maniero's contract have not been disclosed but he will be able to play for the club in the UEFA Champions League.

Coach Delio Rossi was keen to strengthen his squad before the close of the transfer window and he secured last minute swoops for Siviglia and Giallombardo.
Siviglia returns to the Eternal City after a loan spell at the club from Parma last season.
Parma have now allowed the player to join Lazio on a permanent basis, although the length of his contract is unclear.
In addition to Siviglia's signing, Lazio have taken Giallombardo on loan from Livorno for the remainder of the campaign.
Parma followed up the sale of Siviglia by shipping Gaetano Grieco out to Napoli on a permanent basis. Treviso have moved to bolster their defence by signing Carlos Adrian Valdez.
The Serie A minnows endured a torrid start to life in the top flight when they were comfortably beaten 3-0 at Internazionale last weekend.
The club have swooped to try to shore up their rearguard by bringing in Uruguayan stopper Valdez.
He has arrived in Italy on a season-long loan from Nacional and will be eager to impress quickly.

都好,有返個施維加利亞 Chievo Verona have concurred on a joint ownership deal with Roma for Giuseppe Scurto.
The young defender is on the fringe of the Roma first-team squad this season and has been allowed to link up with Chievo.
Roma coach Luciano Spalletti consented to the notion of a joint ownership agreement which will initially see Scurto spend this season with the Flying Donkeys.
Scurto made his debut for Roma last November against Milan and was in and out of the side.
He now has the chance to secure more regular action with Chievo, who started the new Serie A season with a 1-0 defeat at champions Juventus. Reggina swooped to pocket Francesco Cozza and Maurizio Lauro on loan before the close of the transfer window.
Cozza returns to Reggina only 12 months after leaving the club to link up with Serie A rivals Siena.
The midfielder previously spent six years with Reggina and is back at Stadio Oreste Granillo for the rest of the season.
Lauro has also joined Reggina on loan, with the defender arriving at the club from promoted Ascoli.
Serie A new boys Ascoli were active on the final day of the transfer window as they also allowed four more players to leave the club.
Ascoli coach Marco Giampaolo sold his son Federico to Modena, while Emanuele Ferraro was bought by Salernitana.
Bologna snapped up defender Angelo Antonazzo on loan and there was a temporary move to Sanbenedettese for Giampietro Perrulli.
To compensate for the departures, Ascoli did sign two players of South American origin, with Colombian midfielder Abel Aguilar joining from Deportivo Cali.
Venezuelan striker Paul Ramirez also linked up with Ascoli on loan from Swiss side Bellinzona. Borussia Monchengladbach have signed former Werder Bremen midfielder Krisztian Lisztes on a free transfer.
The 29-year-old Hungarian international has signed a one-year deal with Horst Koppel's side after spurning the advances of a host of European clubs.
Premiership side Wigan, Serie A outfits Chievo and Lazio, and Austria Vienna all expressed interest in the player, however Lisztes opted for Gladbach after undergoing a trial at Borussia Park.
"Krisztian has played Bundesliga football for nine years with Stuttgart and Bremen," the Foals' sporting director, Peter Pander, told the club's official website.
"He is a creative player who will surely be able to help us and he was willing to sign a performance-related contract as well."
Lisztes, who will don the number nine shirt for his new club, is seen as a direct replacement for Marek Heinz after the Czech international completed a move to Galatasaray earlier this week.
