Rehmer on the move
Former German international Marko Rehmer has completed his move from Hertha Berlin to Bundesliga new boys Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 33-year-old defender put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at the Commerzbank Arena on Wednesday and expressed his desire to resurrect his flagging career with a strong season for Frankfurt.
"I want to show everyone what I am still capable of. I wasn't given a chance at Hertha last season," he said.
Rehmer failed to play in the Bundesliga for the capital city outfit last season after picking up a nine-match suspension for taking an illegal substance to combat nasal problems.
Eintracht boss Friedhelm Funkel is hoping to sign several experienced players to help his team establish themselves in the top flight.
Rehmer is the fourth new face in his squad for the 2005/06 season following Unterhaching striker Francisco Copado, Bochum midfielder Christoph Preuss and Grashoppers midfielder Christoph Spycher.

Espanyol trio to leave
Espanyol have confirmed that Erwin Lemmens, Toni Soldevilla and Alex Fernandez will be leaving the club this summer.
Goalkeeper Lemmens will leave after a two-year stint and is rumoured to be a target for Celtic.
The Belgian international will be available on a free transfer having found himself surplus to requirements due to the form of Cameroonian Carlos Kameni at the Estadio Olimpico de Montjuic.
Soldevilla came through the youth ranks at Espanyol but has decided to move on as his contract has expired.
The Catalans were reported to have made him an offer to stay, but he has opted to seek pastures new with Zaragoza thought to be amongst the Primera outfits chasing him.
Fernandez, a midfielder, has been informed he longer features in boss Miguel Angel Lotina's first-teams plans and is reported to be considering an offer from an unnamed Scottish outfit.
However, Espanyol have reached a deal to retain Brazilian midfielder Fredson.
The South American seemed to be on his way out of the club a few weeks ago having rejected the terms he was initially offered, but the player's agent Carlos Jatova has now found an agreement.
The player and his representative will meet club officials to put pen to paper on Thursday.

Werder after Slovenian defender
Sources in Slovenia and Croatia claim that Werder Bremen are monitoring Dinamo Zagreb's Bostjan Cesar.
The Slovenian international defender, who scored the winning goal for his country in a World Cup qualification game against Italy, is rated in the €3 million class.
"It's hard to talk about it because I didn't have any contacts at Werder," commented Cesar. "But I heard rumours that they wanted me and I know Werder scouts were at Dinamo games watching me.
"If you ask me, then I would not hesitate. I would gladly sign for them.
"Werder are a big club, one of the biggest in Germany, and will probably play in the Champions League next season.
"I could hardly pick a better club for me."
Cesar could be seen as an ideal replacement for Valerien Ismael who looks to be leaving the club and joining champoins Bayern Munich.

Pogatetz can leave Bayer
Bayer Leverkusen have said that in-demand defender Emanuel Pogatetz can leave the club for the right price.
Bayer supremo Wolfgang Holzhauser stated on Thursday that the Austrian international star would be available "if the price that we want can be met".
The news will alert Premiership clubs Fulham and Middlesbrough, who are both believed to be hot on the heels of the talented 22-year-old, as well as Russian outfit Spartak Moscow where he is currently on loan.
Bayer are likely to demand a fee of around €3 million for his signature.
The German outfit's declaration that Pogatetz can leave for the right price is a shift in stance after coach Klaus Augenthaler admitted earlier in the week that he was counting on the player for next season.
Meanwhile Holzhauser confirmed that Leverkusen have signed Brazilian defender Athirson from Cruzeiro.
The 28-year-old has been handed a three-year deal at the BayArena and is likely to replace Argentinian left back Diego Placente in the Bayer line-up.
Holzhauser commented: "He will be an enrichment for the Bundesliga."

Murray makes Rangers move

Scottish Premier League champions Rangers FC have signed Hibernian FC captain Ian Murray on a three-year deal.
Free transfer
The versatile 24-year-old, who was out of contract at Easter Road, finalised the free transfer today on his return from international duty with Scotland. The move represents the second time Rangers manager Alex McLeish has signed Murray, after taking him to Edinburgh in 1999 when in charge of Hibernian.
'Tremendous desire'
McLeish said: "I'm delighted to get him. He's got tremendous desire. If you've got that as a footballer you've got a right good chance. But to play for a club like Rangers there are extra demands - there's the mental side of it and there's the expectation levels to play at a high standard."
Rennes reach Utaka agreement

Nigerian striker John Utaka has joined French UEFA Cup contenders Stade Rennais FC from RC Lens for a reported €6m.
Agreement reached
The 23-year-old, who represented Lens in the 2002/03 UEFA Champions League in his first European season, scoring two group stage goals, has signed a contract until summer 2009. Lens stated: "This transfer has been reported in the press for a while but we only reached agreement with Rennes on Thursday."
UEFA Cup debut
Rennes equalled their best-ever Ligue 1 finish of fourth place in 2004/05 to earn a first UEFA Cup campaign, beginning in the first round on 15 September. It is not yet known if Utaka's potential strike partner, Alexander Frei, will remain in Brittany.

Unsettled Hungarian striker Imre Szabics has joined 1. FC Köln from VfB Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee. The 24-year-old, a peripheral figure at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion last term, has signed a two-year deal with the Bundesliga returnees as he seeks first-team football. "Imre wasn't pleased with his situation here," Stuttgart sporting manager Herbert Briem said. "He wants to play regularly and believes he's got a better chance with Köln. We respect his decision and wish him all the best."
Brazilian midfielder Douglas Silva has joined Portuguese SuperLiga side CD Nacional from Grêmio FPA in a deal that sees Marcelo Pereira travel in the other direction. The 25-year-old has agreed a one-year loan switch.
CF Os Belenenses have signed Brazilian attacking midfielder Fábio Januário. The 25-year-old moves from SuperLiga rivals Gil Vicente FC where he had been on the first-team fringes since 2003. His arrival comes 48 hours after Cameroonian striker Albert Meyong joined from Vitória FC.
Swiss international Stéphane Henchoz will leave UEFA Champions League qualifiers Celtic FC, according to his agent. The 30-year-old has failed to make an impact at Celtic Park after leaving Liverpool FC on a short-term deal in January and is now seeking new employers. His agent Jorg Vonmatt said: "Things haven't worked out for one reason or another and he will definitely be leaving Scotland."
Aston Villa FC striker Luke Moore has inked a new three-year deal with the English Premiership outfit. The 19-year-old's contract was due to expire on 1 July but after lengthy negotiations the former English Under-19 international has committed to Villa Park. Moore made 25 appearances last term, mostly from the substitutes' bench, opening his goalscoring account against Middlesbrough FC in March.
Also in England, Fulham FC have completed a deal to bring Czech goalkeeper Jaroslav Drobny to London from Greek club Panionios NFC. The 25-year-old had signed a pre-contract with Fulham in January, although full details of the transfer remain undisclosed.
Another player who finished the campaign at Rot-Weiss Essen, Enrico Gaede, has signed a two-year deal with FC Hansa Rostock. The 23-year-old midfielder moves from Hansa's Bundesliga rivals VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

FC Bayern München have signed Werder Bremen defender Valérien Ismaël with Torsten Frings travelling in the opposite direction.

The two clubs agreed the deal today although no details have been revealed about the transfer fees paid. Ismaël will sign a three-year contract in Munich where he will take over from Robert Kovac as Lucio's partner in central defence. The 29-year-old Frenchman joined Bremen from RC Strasbourg two years ago, winning the German league and cup in 2003/04.
Frings returning
Meanwhile, Frings returns to Bremen where he played for six seasons before a 2002 switch to BV Borussia Dortmund. He moved to Bayern last summer but has now secured a three-year contract at Bremen. The midfielder, who is currently preparing for the FIFA Confederations Cup with Germany, made 29 appearances for Bayern in their double-winning campaign.
