Andrew Johnson will hold talks with Wigan chief Paul Jewell on Friday after Crystal Palace accepted an £8.5million bid for the striker.
Palace chairman Simon Jordan, who will discuss the club's vacant manager's job with Graeme Souness next week, said last night Johnson will negotiate terms with Wigan on Friday.
Jewell wanted Johnson, 25, to be released from England's B squad to play Belarus tomorrow night to hold talks today, but coach Sven Goran Eriksson will keep the striker in the training camp.
Johnson, who will probably be a substitute at the Madejski Stadium, has four years left on a contract worth £24,000 a week at Selhurst Park, but the offer from Wigan will be closer to £40,000 a week.

Wigan Athletic have had a £5.5m bid for defender Robert Huth accepted by Chelsea, BBC Sport understands.
The German centre-half, 21, is believed to be unhappy at his lack of first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
He wants his future to be resolved after the World Cup when he will have showdown talks with boss Jose Mourinho.
"I've not heard about Wigan's interest. All I know is that I am not happy at the moment. After the World Cup I will speak to Jose Mourinho," he said.
Huth is currently with the German national team preparing for the World Cup and was speaking from their training camp in Geneva.
he added: "Even a transfer to the Bundesliga is a possibility. It's all open. Nothing has been decided yet."
Wigan have also had an £8.5m bid accepted for Crystal Palace striker Andy Johnson and are vying with rivals Bolton for his services.
