Simon extends stay
Charlton have agreed to extend Simon Walton's loan until January 3 with the player confirmed as staying at Portman Road until that date.
The 18-year-old midfielder had initially agreed a one month loan but Town boss Jim Magilton has negotiated a longer deal with Addicks manager Iain Dowie.
"When Simon goes back to Charlton, he wants to be in contention for a first-team place and that's the attitude I would expect," Jim told the Club website.
"But both Iain and I agree that it will benefit the lad if he stays here with us and plays regular first-team football. That will give him valuable League experience.
I have spoken to Simon and he is delighted that he is able to extend his stay here.
"He has fitted in well with the lads in his short time here and we're delighted to keep him until January."
The terms of the loan mean that Simon is guaranteed to stay at Portman Road until the January transfer window opens on January 3.
Meanwhile Liam Trotter's loan to Millwall will also be January 3, with no recall option for Town.

EIRIK BAKKE: CLUB STATEMENT
Leeds United today explained the reasons behind the decision to leave Norwegian international midfielder Eirik Bakke out of their first team plans.
"It is in the club's best interests for Eirik to move on," Shaun Harvey, United's chief executive officer, said. "At the present time Eirik is back in Norway trying, along with his advisers, to find another club before the transfer window shuts at the end of the month.
"He is in the final year of a contract, which in any shape or form, would not be renewed at the end of the season.
"While the level of his salary is in no way his fault, it is preventing the club from moving forward as quickly as we would like. Apart from Gary Kelly, Eirik is the last of the players from the Ridsdale era when players were remunerated very, very well.
"But time has moved on. We no longer have the parachute payment, we are no longer a Premiership club and we have to face reality.
"Eirik has been a great servant to the club and he is not being singled out. Over the last few years Leeds United have been forced to part company with a number of players due to the scale of their wages.
"We have a contract with Eirik which, if he does not find another club, we will have to honour but there are certain parts of it, in particular some appearance related payments which now, effectively, will prohibit him from playing for us in the long run."

UNITED SWOOP FOR DOUGLAS
Republic of Ireland international, Jonathan Douglas, today renewed his association with Leeds United when he signed a three-year contract with the Elland Road club for an undisclosed fee.
Midfielder Douglas agreed the deal with United on the last day before the transfer window closes.
Douglas spent most of last season on loan at Elland Road during which time he made 39 first team starts and had a further nine outings a sub. He scored five goals.
Born in Clones, Ireland, the 24-year-old Douglas joined Blackburn Rovers as a professional in the 1999-2000 season at the age of 18 but had to wait until the 2002-2003 season before making his first team debut.
Jonathan made his debut for the Republic of Ireland side when he came on as a substitute against Poland in 2004 and also has Under 21 honours to his name.
Although he has left a Premiership club to come to Leeds, he will have an improved chance of getting regular first team football with Leeds.He has spent a lot of his time on loan, playing with Chesterfield, Blackpool and Gillingham before linking up with Leeds early last season.
His move to Leeds will give him the chance to put roots down. "I need to play regularly if that happens here then I'll be delighted. I really enjoyed my time at Leeds last season and this move will give me some stability," he said.
