Valero: Del Bosque hasn’t come to watch me
by TomConn | Posted on Wednesday, November 6th, 2013
Former Villarreal and current Fiorentina midfielder, Borja Valero has all but given up on his dream to get a call up to the Spanish national team, as manager Vicente Del Bosque hasn’t even come to watch him, despite the Spaniards impressive performances.
In a recent interview with Spanish sports daily, Marca, Valero began with intrigue, stating there are only two clubs (one English and one Spanish) that would convince him to leave Fiorentina and even offers from PSG, Bayern Munich and Juve would likely be turned down.
“I can’t tell you [the clubs]. They are two dreams that I have had since I was a kid, and if I tell you then they won’t come true. I hope that they do come true.
“It would honestly be very difficult for me to consider [PSG, Bayern or Juventus].”
Valero then stated that he doesn’t tire of people asking him about his time at Real Madrid, as it was a major part in who he is as a footballer today.
“Real has been my life and I learnt almost everything there. I like people asking me about Real Madrid; I’m a fan and that’s where I grew up.”
On that note, Valero reveals that former Real Madrid and current Spanish national team manager, Vicente Del Bosque has not come to see him play and doubts he will ever be called up.
“No, I don’t think [he’s come and seen me play].
“The thing is that I didn’t even get into the Spain squad when it was just playing friendlies and I was doing well. It would really be a turn up for the books if I was selected for Brazil.”
Valero concluded by giving his choice for the Ballon d’Or and it’s not a player currently plying his craft in Spain.
“Perhaps Ribery, because he’s the most influential player at a team that’s winning everything. And you have to admit that he’s doing fantastically well.” |
