Arsenal want Bayern Munich's England midfielder Owen Hargreaves to replace Patrick Vieira at the club according to reports.
It was thought that Jermaine Jenas was the number one choice to replace Vieira but Newcastle have made it clear that they have no intention of selling him and now the Gunners have apparently turned their attentions to Hargreaves.
Canadian born Hargreaves has long been linked with a move to the Premiership with Liverpool said to be the favourites to sign him but that has never happened and he is now thought to be getting impatient for a move.
Bayern would want a decent transfer fee for the player but with just a year left on his contract they are not in the strongest position.
Hargreaves recently turned down a move to Middlesbrough but is still determined to make a Premiership move.
