Former Manchester United and Rangers winger Andrei Kanchelskis has announced his retirement from professional football.
The 38-year-old - who won two Premiership titles and one FA Cup after moving to Old Trafford in 1991 - has taken the decision to hang up his boots after being released by Krylia Sovetov.
Kanchelskis bows out of the game having accrued a mountain of silverware in Britain, as well as winning 36 international caps for Russia after shunning the chance to represent Ukraine after the fall of the Soviet Union.
The flying winger felt the moment was right to call time on a career that also encompassed further spells in Italy and Saudi Arabia.
"You need to leave at the right time," he told Sport Express.
"Now seems a suitable moment to begin a new chapter in my footballing life."
After rising to prominence with Ukrainian sides Dynamo Kiev and Shakhtar Donetsk, Kanchelskis joined United for just £650,000 where he proceeded to pick up a league winners' medal in 1993 and a double triumph the following year.
However, in 1995, the midfielder joined Paul Ince and Mark Hughes in falling victim to Sir Alex Ferguson's exceptional crop of talented youngsters, with his departure opening the door for David Beckham to emerge as a world star at Old Trafford.
Kanchelskis joined Everton for £5million, and after scoring 20 league goals in one-and-a-half seasons at Goodison, was on the move again to join Fiorentina in an £8million deal.
In 1998 the winger was back in Britain having joined Rangers for £5.5million, and Kanchelskis won the domestic treble in his first season before claiming another double in 2000.
Brief spells with Manchester City, Southampton and Al Hilal followed, before Kanchelskis moved to Russia to join Saturn Moscow and then Krylia Sovetov.
