Reasons for abuse of animals and possible solution.
No more abuse
The burgeoning problem that has aroused constant awareness and public attention has been the abuse of animals. Why somebody treat animals so cruel?That's a question many people,if not all, will ask.In this essay,I will attempt to figure out some underlying reasons relating to this problem and suggest some possible solutions to deal with it.
The reasons of the abuse of animals are threefold.To begin with,many will divert their anger to animals.Working pressure,interpersonal conflict or financial difficulty are some of problem Hong Kong people always encounter.The anger or dissatisfication derived from these problem may lead people to act in violent way.If they can not handle their emotional problem properly or nobody can share their personal woe,they may choose to turn their anger to innooent animals by not providing them with food,beating them or leaving them unattended.Besides,those who suffer from social injustices are too timid to express theirselves and seek way to resolve their problem.They may choose to hurt animals to regain their self-esteem and release their anger inside.
Second of all,some may underestimate the cost of raising a pet,like dogs or cats.People always buy animals as pets without second thought.They just buy them as a 'toy' for fun and disregard the cost involved.Though raising a pet is less expensive than raising a child,the cost involving health care and food is still significate for many.Once people find it difficult to raise their pet or they feel them not lovely any more,they will abandon them in a street or even vent their anger on them by maltreating them.
Third,it maybe a commmon reason,pets being given to those who do not want to receive.Some people like to buy their friends a pet as a birthday gift and they never think whether their friends love pet or not.People receiving the pet therefore have to raise the pet to avoid disappointing their friends.In fact,they have their own reasons for not wanting the pet.Subsequently,they may be apathetic to their pet and even treat them cruely.
As we can see,what can we do to deal with the problem?First of all,the public should face up to this problem.Animal's life is no difference to our life.We should learn to respect them.Just as we want other's respect,so too animals want our respect.Please evaculate your affordability and the time and effort involved in looking after the pet prior to buying a pet.As far as the government is concerned,launching advertising campagin through public services either on television or on the radio,to make the public constantly aware of the level of harm the abuse could do to animals.Besides,I think the penalty of the abuse is too lax and lenient.It is difficult to prohibit people from not abusing animals.Some heavier and stiffer penalty should be imposed.For example,extending the duration of imprisonment or increasing the fines could be a deterrent to prevent the abuse from happening.
To conclude,any form of life,both animals and people,deserve respect.Nobody can deprive of other's right to survive.I hope people can show more respect for animals whose life is no less precious than human's life.Then,there is no more animals abuse cases.
