| [/td] | |
The crowd of 1404 turning up at Hong Kong Stadium today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain. KCC decided to use a 5-4-1 set up. Lineup: Miatow - Kunyu, Louis, Kuanyao, Aoqiang, Junda - Škorlić, Voskamp, Ju Hau, Gundersen - Wen Teh.
Architectz decided to use a 3-5-2 set up. Lineup: Fernández - Kwok Ho, Jozwiak, Lizhou - Upton, Cho, Jin Hien, Osvald, Romano - Kwang Woo, Devic.
Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of KCC. Architectz's Jae-Pyo Cho was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick freekick in the 9th minute. Wang Kuanyao finished off the counterattack from the left rather easily, scoring 1 - 0 for KCC. Jae-Pyo Cho's lack of experience almost gave KCC a goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. KCC played a good counterattacking move down the left in the 30th minute, with Per Gundersen finishing well for 2 - 0. The structure of the game started to change as KCC decided to pull back and meet their opponents in their own half. In the game's 31st minute KCC's Cai Aoqiang limped slightly after a late challenge, but he was able to continue. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Architectz, bringing their ball possession to 65 percent, dominated the battle.
KCC's Erik-Sander Voskamp struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 0 after 47 minutes. Zhong Jin Hien, who often relies on his speed, had a rotten day on the drenched grass. An awe-inspiring free kick by Fong Kwok Ho of Architectz resulted in a goal in the 54th minute! 3 - 1 was the new score. After an industrious effort down the middle, Song Kunyu could have closed the game off in the 69th minute, but his finishing shot hit the post. Architectz, bringing their ball possession to 57 percent, dominated the battle.
The most dominating KCC player was without a doubt Lam Wen Teh. However, Vlatko Škorlić made a disastrous appearance. Most important Architectz player was Jae-Pyo Cho. On the other hand, Rodrigo Fernández's play was disheartening. The match ends 3 - 1.
